  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I haven't been to my public library in a while, so I don't know if they have a manga section per se, but I looked up Inuyasha in their online catalog and several of the volumes were availible. So I know that they do have manga at least!

My library's got a very tiny one, but it's still there. It even has some "how to draw manga" books, too. Usually, though, when I'm home from college and need some manga to read, I go to my best friend's house- she's got more manga than most bookstores! XD

Mine does, at least they do at the main Phoenix Library. That library is freakin' huge too...5 floors and each floor is bigger by itself than any library in Arkansas where I used to live. :p

4th floor is the Youth section and they have a huge manga section, organized by authors last name...which confused me for a while since Border's organizes by Series name. They don't organize by older/younger teen, so you'll find Yaoi/yuri/adult-ish manga right next to pokemon and other children's manga. I don't really care, I just have to watch what my lil' sis' decides to get. Though I probably can't say much, I let her watch and read all of Chobits :p

My public library has manga - there's an adults section, a teens section and a kids section. I've gone to all three, but the only one I've liked has been the kids' Pokemon manga (I like creatures more than humans; I often have difficulty telling manga humans apart). Plus I don't like romance or gore, so my selection is sort of limited... as in I will never touch my library's adult section of manga ever again and most of the teen stuff is romance. Sigh. I like the drawing style, but...

Incidentally, how are you supposed to read manga? I know the book itself is read from the "back" to the "front", but if the page is set up like a comic strip (with two or three boxes going across it), are you meant to read these from left to right or from right to left?

(Yeah... I'm a bit of a novice...)
