  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

of course, i know that your dog probaby does sneeze at some point, but i'm just wondering if this particular situation is unique or happens to other dogs:

two of my four dogs are absolute best friends and are always running around the house playing together -- my pit bull mix and my st bernard mix. the interesting thing, though, is that when they really get to playing hard and rolling around on the ground and such, they both start sneezing. if it was just the one, i'd think that it was a weird quirk, but they both do it. and they'll just stand there, looking at each other, tails wagging and sneezing up a storm for at least two or three minutes.

i know this isn't any kind of medically-related problem and i'm not worried about it, i just think it's really funny and i wondered if anyone else's dogs do the same thing when they play together.

Growing up I had a dog that I think was allergic to fresh grass clippings. He would love to roll around in it, but always ended up having a sneezing fit similar to what you describe. Tho I guess maybe some clippings just got up his nose and it wasn't allergies at all....I'm not vet :)

Oh that is too funny-- I also have two dogs (little Maltese) and one never sneezes unless his face is in something irritating. The other pup sneezes whenever she wants to go outside and go potty. It's kind of like the Early Warning System before she has an accident. She will increase her amount of sneezing until she is let out-- so she starts out an Atchoo here or there--- and then follows up with ATCHOO ATCHOO ATCHOO ... it's quite humourous!

My dog will do it sometime after he has rolled around in the grass. He also does it when he comes in the house, which isn't often since he is a German Shepherd, he'll be laying down in the living room and then will randomly sneeze, then other times he will sneeze if someone is laying down right in front of his nose, it's like he does it on purpose.

My Beagle does a "reverse sneeze". It basically sounds like he's having some kind of asthma attack or something, and it lasts for about 30 seconds. Copper will brace himself while standing and he will breath in and out nosily. At first I was a little concerned because I didn't know what was causing it, but the vet just says it's a reverse sneeze.

Does any other dog do this?

Diane

My dogs sneeze from time to time. I have found that with my dog Einstein (a golden retriever) if you get near his face and "pretend to sneeze" towards him - he will then sneeze for real. It is the funniest thing and I'm not quite sure why he does it - more like a reaction - but it's cute!

I've had several dogs (after all, I'm 63 ), and I've noticed that some of them would sneeze when they were getting a lot of good attention - like being bragged on an extra amount. I believe they are saying, "Oh, it was nothing. Any dog could have done as well." ;)
