I'm not just restricting this to the 2024 election. He's a young guy for a presidential candidate and could certainly try again and again in the future. I saw him for the first time in the Republican presidential debate tonight.

Breaking the glass ceiling for a Hindu candidate is certainly tempting. He has some appeal to the Trump fans due to his anti-woke and anti-ESG policies. He's willing to dump Ukraine in favor of Russia. He wants to get rid of the Department of Education entirely. Big fan of fossil fuels. I'm looking forward to learning more about him.

I'm not wild about his positions in general. He strikes me as another populist instead of a conservative. But I'm afraid I'll have to disqualify him from my vote due to his loud announcement that he would pardon Donald Trump. Interestingly, he also seems willing to pardon Hunter Biden, another thing I would be against.

I am watching the debate. He's like a faster-talking flim flam clone of Democratic wunderkind Pete Buttigieg.

His first rapid fire comments were basically giving away the farm to corporations--poisoning air, water, food supply--humans beware.

I think he thinks if he talks fast and smiles the people won't know they're being fleeced.

My grade? A solid F.

His career:
Started a biotechnology company incorporated in Bermuda. He set up subsidiaries for each potential patent. Some were headquartered in China.
He bought a patent application for an Alzheimers drug for $5 million, raised hundreds of millions, sold his stock at its peak--right before the worthless drug tanked and sunk the stock 75%.
Teachers' retirement funds--and many others--went bankrupt.
perhaps flim-flam man is too kind a term for him.

Very aggressive and not a typical example of a humble person coming from the Hindi culture. In fact he is scary.

I didn't like how he said he wanted to keep 'the American dream' alive for future generations and his own children when he unloaded loads of his company's stock shortly before news that the tested Alzheimer's drug was unviable--causing the stock to sink 75%, decimating teachers' pension funds and the life savings of other small investors.

Is that the American Dream? To "take the money and run" and five years later to use part of that $975 million to self-finance a campaign for president?

We are Christians here, and while he is a Hindu who believes in a monotheistic God, he says he is a person of deep faith.

Did not Jesus teach us to be "servant leaders?" To wash the feet of others, not leave them without fifty bucks for a pair of shoes?

Honestly I'm a bit scared that he's doing as well as he is considering many of his positions. I do think though that he's actually audition for VP, and not really President.
That's a good point, considering how much he's defending Trump.

Normally you would want a running mate who brings some kind of balance, but Trump I think is going to want a yes man and the RNC will be too afraid not to give it to him.

He's already on record as wanting to disenfranchise a good percentage of the electorate because they don't vote how he likes.

Complete non-starter.

Does he have a chance? Perhaps.

He is not a conservative as you said. The Republican party is not conservative now either, much more populist and heading towards authoritarian. He has the populist leaning down but apparently would move away from the authoritarian direction.

This election his position on Ukraine kills his chances. Once that war is done, it won't be an issue.

Denying climate change will hurt him in a general election, but Presidents have overcome unreasonable conclusions before.

I found it fascinating that a CNN group of voters from Iowa felt he won the debate. That alone shows he has a chance.

I way prefer Scott or Haley from a policy standpoint. Either of them can get us back on track towards focusing on meaningful conservative policy rather than the made-up controversies populists are forced to create once they come into power.

Is it not hypocritical that Ramaswamy said solar power is worse because the panels are made in China which is a big polluter---when the company he owned was registered in Bermuda and had two subsidiaries located in China?

If he thinks doing business with China is bad, why did he register his company in an offshore tax haven and set up subsidiaries in China?

Perhaps because he's dishonest? Or unethical? Or greedy? Or unpatriotic? Or all of the preceding?

...or WH Chief of Staff in a Trump WH. He shares Trump's goals, with the competence to execute.

Appreciate the question that provoked me to research, who is Vivek Ramaswamy?

He was born in Cincinnati Ohio to Hindu parents from Tamil India

He was schooled from 8th-12th grade at a jesuit catholic school

He attended (Harvard BA) and (Yale JD)
He was awarded a fellowship by Paul Soros, the older brother of George Soros

He has openly criticized the killing of animals for food, with himself being a Hindu vegetarian

He is closely aligned with Pfizer and big pharma in research partnerships through his several biotech companies

Conclusion: I don't see a Jesuit schooled,, Paul Soros backed person, who is a Hindu vegetarian, and aligned with big pharmaceutical, being the republican nominee for president of the US

Let's be honest, the only Republican not named Trump that stands a chance at the nomination is DeSantis
Let's be honest, Donald J. Trump is already the republican nominee, when all is said and done, he will be backed by 90% of the party

He did get a polling bump, right? I think thats because he made a lot of Trumpy noises at the debate.

Ramaswamy has as much a chance at the republican nomination as Mike Pence, Nikki Haley, or the rest of the stage actors "Zero"

Of course, I only mention DeSantis on the off chance Trump doesn't get the nomination. Those two are the only ones who realistically stand a chance.
