Does the Salvation Army have Churches?

Self-explanatory.

I've only seen Thrift shops and during Christmas time, the bell ringer. I understand they come from a Methodist/Wesleyan background.

I used to go to a Salvation Army Center in Prescott, Az.
The building was a multi-purpose facility which included
a large enough chapel for services, and other rooms for
childcare, etc...so yeah, basically a church, and more.
Had breakfast there 6 days a week in a nice sized dining
area w/full size kitchen. A wonderful range of services
for the community, especially those most in need.

Yes I looked into them because their is one real close to where I live. They got churches, church services but no sacraments as far as having baptism, Holy Communion etc. ! I believe that is intentional because they want to affiliate with local churches and receive their support and having these would make them seem like competitors (when they are trying to be a bit lit a parachurch group), and would isolate them because of different Churches doctrinal positions on the nature of baptism and the eucharist.

Of course they do, my husband and I go to one here in New Zealand, we are "Salvationsit". It is a wonderful place.

We are enlisted members. The services are like any other Protestant church, we have lots of singing and testimonies and wonderful messages. Afterwards, we have fellowship upstairs with coffee, cookies and other tasty treats, once a month we have a lunch after the service where everyone brings something, it is like a pot-luck dinner. The Sallies do so much good for the community. The photos below are of my husband and I.

Indeed, the work of the Salvation Army has been extraordinary. In the early years in South London, there were only two groups of people who really made a difference, the Salvation Army and the Anglo Catholics. In the US the Salvation Army has consistently had a uniquely positive impact…an ancestor of mine during the first World War who reposed in the Lord a great many years ago recalled his gratitude for the presence of the Salvation Army, for the simple reason that while both the SA and the Red Cross were set up serving coffee to doughboys (American infantry soldiers during WWI, compare “GI” or “Tommy” from WWII) coming off the front line (this being in 1918, when for various reasons trench warfare was ending), the Red Cross was charging a dime per cup (which in 1918 was quite a bit of change…I reckon if they had Starbucks in 1918, which is an amusing thought by the way, “I have a carmel macchiato for Neville!,” a dime would cover most things on the menu), whereas the Salvation Army was giving away coffee and doughnuts free of charge.

In the case of the very first business I had, when I was 12-15 years old, which consisted of harvesting, packaging and selling mistletoe in front of stores in the days and weeks before Christmas (which is good money by the way…the trick is to find homeowners with well-cared for trees contending with a mistletoe infestation, who are only too happy to let you remove some of it, as it is a parasite; I heartily suggest this as a way to teach youths about running a business, salesmanship and so on), I donated 10% of the profits, which were considerable (once I made $400 in 2022 dollars in just one hour, in front of a Target), to the Salvation Army.

Oh by the way @Susie~Q , does the Salvation Army still have any traditional worship? For example, traditional hymns, with organ or brass band accompaniment?

And do you have any set forms of prayer, or is it entirely ex tempore?

I am really glad you are on the forums; I previously encountered a profile which I think is your husband’s.

The corps here is into contemporary worship with ex tempore prayers, similar to most evangelical churches. (Not a member, but my organization works with them on several projects so I've visited their worship a few times...)
