Hello folks

After reading ECR thread about sharing the word and the feelings had had and shared with us I went deep into myself and felt like posting this new thread and share a little bit of my experience...

Well, to begin with I too experienced similar situations...

When I was about twenty I was in a stage of religious revival (Im 32 btw), sharing the good news with everyone and mostly, I guess, making a fool of myself, anyways, one of my roman catholic cousins had a coworker, this woman was about my age and member of one of those charismatic movements. Movement or not, the important thing for me was, that they didnt (or dont) observe the sabbath day, which was "THE" major commandment for me, be honest dudes, "nothing else really matters" once you have stepped into the world of adventism...

After about one or two hours of sitting in a tea bar, she was confused, frustrated and probably sad... me as well, she didnt catch on the latest news of the sabbath commandment, but I remember what she told me, she told me that she actually thought or expected that we would both meet and praise the Lord...

Praise the Lord?? excuse me!!??!! Praise the Lord?? How are we supposed to do that?? ;)

Well, I remember it like it was yesterday....

Have you actually ever praised the Lord with somebody from another church?? a church that doesnt observe saturday?? good question, I know...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, but then there was nothing to be frustrated with, confused, sad or whatever... as a brother always used to say. you have witnessed the Truth, and thats the most important thing.., :)

____________________________________________________________

My mother is a sabbath keeper, ( I am personally no longer convinced (temporarily ? ;) ), and of course she is not an authority, nothing like a pastor or chaplain ;)...

she often cites Jeremiah or Isaiahs last chapter which state something like:

and they will keep my sabbaths and my new moons... (according to her its a new earth statement....)

and the I ask her: Are you keeping the new moons?? Why is the SDA church not keeping the new moons if they are as holy as the sabbath??

Anyone thought about that??

I guess the answer will be that they are no longer important, so if were to set up a sect which kept the Sabbaths AND the NEW MOONS calling everyone BABYLON who wouldnt keep the new moons holy, would that make sense

or

wouldnt you rather come up with for example

Hosea 2:11

I will stop all her celebrations: her yearly festivals, her New Moons, her Sabbath days--all her appointed feasts.

stating the God himself called the new moons off... (did He actually mention the Sabbath days?? )

BUT

were the new moons actually of any importance at all??

According to Amos 8 God took new moon offences very seriously

“When will the New Moon be over
that we may sell grain,
and the Sabbath be ended
that we may market wheat?”—
skimping on the measure,
boosting the price
and cheating with dishonest scales,
6 buying the poor with silver
and the needy for a pair of sandals,
selling even the sweepings with the wheat. 7 The LORD has sworn by himself, the Pride of Jacob: “I will never forget anything they have done.
8 “Will not the land tremble for this,
and all who live in it mourn?
The whole land will rise like the Nile;
it will be stirred up and then sink
like the river of Egypt.
9 “In that day,” declares the Sovereign LORD,
“I will make the sun go down at noon
and darken the earth in broad daylight.
10 I will turn your religious festivals into mourning
and all your singing into weeping.
I will make all of you wear sackcloth
and shave your heads.
I will make that time like mourning for an only son
and the end of it like a bitter day.

So were the new moons called off at the time of the crucifixion (the sun was darkened at noon according to my overstanding).

What is your opinion on that?

I dont know folks but maybe some of you will understand my confusion/frustration/sadness about the whole agenda. Believe me one thing there is nothing more frustrating than not knowing what to believe...

John,

Wait upon the Lord Jesus. He will come to you in a moment and a way that you are not expecting.

SdAs are like loaves of unleavened bread. This is good and useful, but incomplete, as the Lord designed that it should be incomplete. We know in part. The written code is a ministration of death.

Charismatics are like the flames of fire on the lamp stand. This is good and useful but incomplete, as the Lord designed that it should be incomplete. We prophesy in part. The flames/tongues of fire of Pentecost cut us to the quick and lead us to cry out for help.

When that which is perfect is come (and it will come, though the vision tarry, yet it will not tarry, it will come) then that which is in part begins to decrease in its power over us, though we do not despise its part in bringing us to that which is perfect.

When we are babes in Christ, we think that the first part that Jesus gives us is all there is to his kingdom and righteousness. We are even tempted to strive with those who have been given another part as their first part. And they are tempted likewise.

Isa 40:28-31
28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.

29 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.

30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:

31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. KJV

I had a friend who was very involved in his church, he even drove the church van. I spoke with him about the intimate relationship he had with his live in girlfriend. I told him that it didn't look good. He became irate with me and said he was saved. I said nothing about his salvation but the truth I shared with him caused a division between me and him. It even caused a division between him and his relationship with God. So I would have to say, yes, truth can cause division. Jesus warned us of this. Truth will always bring division in falsehood.

I agree, some subjects are confusing, but when its talking about new moons and Sabbaths I don't believe its talking about the 10 Commandment Sabbaths. The way it was explained to me was that some of these Jewish events went for a long period of time like a week, and when that happened the Sabbath was referred to as a "high" Sabbath cause it occurred during one of their events. An example of this I think is when Jesus was on the cross, that next day's Sabbath was for Passover and a "high" Sabbath. I gain a lot of informative tidbits from those familar with the customs and history like Doug Batchelor (amazingfacts.org), Kenneth Cox, Mark Finley (voiceof prophesy.org). Hope that helps.

I had posted this in another thread but I believe the reference to sabbath and the new moon denotes that we will be gathering on a cyclical basis to worship God. Only the weekly Sabbath and the new moon were on a regular cycle. We have no idea what time will be on the new earth, maybe it will continue to be a 7 day cycle, maybe not. What is clear is we will be coming together to worship Him at a time that He will choose... just as He chose to bless the seventh day.
