  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Does the Qur'ân Say that Mary Was Worshipped As Part of The Trinity?

Well, Mary is a big issue only on CF

The Catholic Church does NOT have any prayer during the Mass to/about Mary.

And anyway Mary remember us the Incancation.
When you think to the Redemption, you can think by first to the Cross (as usually the Lutherans), while we think firstly to the Incanation. And Mary is the sign of the Incanation.

While there is a lot of fill and apologetics mixed in in the original post, the evidence is fairly strong that Mohammed understood the Christian trinity to be the Father, the Son and the Mother, Mary. Whether his was a mistaken understanding, or if he got it from one of the various groups of Marian heretics. I'm not so sure. Remember Arabia was the home of the Collyridians.

There's not a lot available online, you could read The Bible and Islam: Or, The Influence of the Old and New Testaments on the Religion of Mohammedpages 92-94.

The strongest passage in the Quran for Mary as part of the Trinity in my opinion is:

That's three English translations of 5:116. Of course we also see that Mohammed always took the trinity to be multiple gods. So he couldn't reconcile it with God is one. But if you read the Quran carefully, his attitude towards the Holy Spirit is quite different than his attitude towards the trinity.

Really?

Did you guys take that out with Vatican II? That is pretty unfortunate...

No, there were not changes about prayers to Mary after the CVII

Mary is quoted only in the Creed (as obviuos) and in the Eucharist Prayer listed with the saints that are already are in heaven.

No specific prayers to Mary were present in the Mass nor before the CVII nor in the NO

They're going to saw our heads off no matter what we do so we might as well pray and worship as we have from the beginning. Toning down our worship won't cut it- the only thing that will satisfy them is if we are either dead or muslim.
