My life has just gotten crazy recently. I am feeling I have been betrayed by every person I know (my sister, my best friend, and my boyfriend), all for different reasons. Is it true that the stronger you get in Christianity the harder the devil works to pull you down? It just seems like ever since I was born again that things have gotten harder. It is nothing that I can't handle with God's help, it is just really making my life very difficult. I am a single mom, full time student, with a part time job. My life is stressful enough with out everyone around me tearing it apart. If it is true about the devil trying to pull you away from God, I gotta know, will he ever give up, cause I am really getting sick of it?

Honestly..yeah. The more rooted you are in your faith, the harder the devil is going to try to pull you out of it. And he will be absolutely SHAMELESS about it, because he's desperate. He will use whatever it takes to go his way, even those close to you. The thing about is....he doesn't have to bother with people who do not have the faith because, they are essentially already on his side. He's more concerned about sticking it to God and the best way to do that is, is to use His believers. Besides, prayers and devotionals that I am sure you're already doing, get yourself involved in a peer group or fellowship at your church. They should be able to help you carry the burden spiritually, physically and emotionally-that is the purpose of being in the part of a body of believers. :)

Not everything that happens to you, or around you, is of the devil. God also puts challenges before us to test our faith, and to possibly help guide is in his purpose for our lives.

I was thinking about Satan earlier today. He knows he is going to lose in the end, why would he continue to fight? Then it dawned on me.

He has lost already, we know this. But he wants to take as many of God's children away from him as possible. It's the only sort of victory he can achieve. He hates the love God has for us, and if he can prevent us from knowing God and loving him (and each other) then he wins a little victory.

Sucks Doesnt it? Satan wages all out war on me daily, sometimes I lose ground, other times when i team up with God we will rule the day.

Often i feel so frustrated that i want to lash out and scream. I hate satan with a passion but he offers stuff to me that for the moment seems to work. Took me a long time to learn his trick, I think that ticked him off even more lol.. Oh well screw him, God is wonderfull to me.

Thanks a bunch for eveyones responses. It makes me feel a lot better. I was just worried cause I didn't understand why things were getting worse for me, but things are slowly starting to get easier. I still have my battles to fight, but with God's help, I know that I will be just fine.

I am thinking about joining a Bible study that a friend of mine from church started at her house. I also am going to work in the office at church one evening a week. I just feel that surrounding my self with other Christians will help me out. Most of my "friends" are not saved and live very unhealthy lifestyles. I am trying to pull myself away from that. (it is not easy)

The devil tries to take you from God, every chance he gets, and some times those are the obsicles you must over come, but like stated above God also diverts or makes obsitcales for you~~To let you grow, mature into a stronger Christian, and walk your walk with the greatest of faith.. But in my opinion the devil is always trying to tap you on the shoulder, but all you must say is "In Jesus Name, I command you to leave me alone, satan" And the Bible says he must flee from you.

Precious Kelly,
Yes, Satan keeps trying because as has been stated he wants to destroy as many of us as he can. The closer we come to Jesus though, the harder that is for him to overcome. So come closer! Draw nigh unto Him and He will draw nigh unto you!
I disagree with one thing, Satan is the author of all the trouble in this world, God ALLOWS us to walk through some of it to see how well we have learned our lessons He is teaching us. So dear one you are taking a test! Keep your eyes on Him and try to be as kind to those that are betraying you as possible. Pray for them to be blessed, that way all hateful things they send your way will find no home and be deflected.
You have the right idea, get with other believers that will encourage you and lift you up in prayer. CF is great for this too!
I heard Jesse Duplantis say something so great. He said something like this, "The devil finally realized he couldn't stand in my way, I was going to confront him with God's word and he would not prevail. So he got sneaky... That old devil got behind me and started to PUSH." He went on to share how the devil began to push him harder and harder until one day he realized he was super stressed and he asked Jesus why serving Him was so hard. Jesus showed him what the enemy was doing.
I think the only reason he got in that situation was he was so passionate about serving Jesus, he forgot to spend time LISTENING to Jesus. I do the same thing far too often. Jesus will tell us what we need to do but we need to spend time with Him and not all of that time should be US talking. :D
Rest in Him precious lamb, Jesus will help you!

You aren't lying. Listening to God's Word can be very hard at times and there are plenty of times where I don't listen and then I later I wish I had. To say I am tested everyday is the biggest understatement of all. Things have gotten easier, but they are still hard. I have so many friends that I know are not good for me but it doesn't change the fact that I love them all. What do I do? I know that they pull me in the wrong direction? Do I just keep trying my best to help them or should I just leave it alone. It makes it very hard for me to hang around them but I really do miss them when I don't. I am soooo confused. I want to do right, I just am not sure what to do.

Even though Satan will never stop trying to defeat you as others here have said, you must never forget that he is a created being and is threrefor limited in his knowledge and power. God alone is eternal, all-knowing and all-powerfull. He knows every situation in your life before it arises and He will give you the strength to stand agains Satans attacks if you will just trust in Him.

No matter how strongly Satan seems to be attacking you, remember that God is stronger. Trust in Him and you will see Gods victory in your life.

The more you study, pray, worship.. the closer you get to God, the harder the devil will be on you. There is a saying - For every new level, there's a new devil.

If the devil WASN'T messing with you, then I'd worry :) He will never leave anyone alone, not even those whom do NOT know Christ. Contrary to what some may believe, he even attacks those in the world, but since they are doing their own thing anyway, they can not really tell.

His hope is to prolong Jesus' return as long as he can because he KNOWS that when Jesus comes back, that is IT for him.. lake of eternal fire. So whatever he can do to throw us off track, he will do. He has no shame, no concerns, no respect, no nothing.

You keep in mind though - EVERYTHING you go through, you can handle. God does not allow anything to happen to us that we cannot handle. Although we THINK we may be weak and cannot deal with it, we can. Afterall, God knows us better than anyone. He knows our breaking points.. so in all that you go through, remember that God knows you can handle it, so rejoice that God sees you with much more strength than you THOUGHT you had :)

And also remember that when we are weak, He is then made strong.

2 Corinthians 12
8Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. 9But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. 10That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

I Peter 4:12-14

"Beloved, do not be amazed and bewildered at the fiery ordeal which is taking place to test your quality, as though something strange (unusual and alien to you and your position) were befalling you.
But insofar as you are sharing Christ's sufferings, rejoice, so that when His glory [full of radiance and splendor] is revealed, you may also rejoice with triumph [exaltantly].
If you are censured and suffer abuse [because you bear] the name of Christ, blessed [are you--happy, fortunate, to be envied, with life-joy and satisfaction in God's favor and salvation, regardless of your outward condition], because the Spirit of glory, the Spirit of God, is resting upon you. On their part He is blasphemed, but on your part He is glorified."

I Peter 5:8-10

"Be well balanced (temperate, sober of mind), be vigilant and cautious at all times; for that enemy of yours, the devil, roams around like a lion roaring [in fierce hunger], seeking someone to seize upon and devour.
Withstand him; be firm in faith [against his onset-rooted, established, strong, immovaable, and determined], knowing that the same (identical) sufferings are appointed to your brotherhood (the whole body of Christians) throughout the world.
And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace [Who imparts all blessing and favor], Who has called you to His [own] eternal glory in Christ Jesus, will Himself complete and make you what you ought to be, establish and ground you securely, and strengthen, and settle you." Amplified

These were a comfort to me, I recieved them in '93 and I was going through a similar time as you are now.

I found it helpful to pray prior to reading my Bible to ask God to teach me. Inevitably, He would give me something that I would be using in a short period of time. When I had a problem, I would ask Him to show me a solution to the problem and when I was hurt by someone I would ask for passages for comfort. God always answered me.
