CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

it is under rule 3.1 the no spamming rule C. You will not post external links for the purpose of promoting traffic to that site. This includes any external URL contained in automatically generated sections of posts such as signatures, avatars, and custom user titles.

But the user is not posting an external link for the purpose of promoting traffic to that site in the case of using a ticker. They are using the ticker to commemorate an important event in their life. Seems like the wording is not right or at the very least subject to imterpretation over whether tickers should be barred with regards to this rule. The rule should be changed to "You will not post external links" and left at that if CF wants to bar tickers with links.

Can someone explain the ticker policy to me? I've seen several people with tickers. Are they OK if they don't have a link? And where can you get a ticker without a link?
