Of course my favorite is Zechariah 13:9 but that is not what we are talking about.

"This third I will put into the fire; I will refine them like silver and test them like gold. They will call on my name and I will answer them; I will say, ‘They are my people,’ and they will say, ‘The LORD is our God.’”

I tend to be an annihilationist so I could go with the word destroy.
God is going to cleanse the Earth of any UnGodliness.
Different translations use a different word.

People will look but they will not find anything that God is not a part of in all of His creation. This all happens after the new heavens and the new earth in 1,000 years. The funny thing is people sinned in the flesh and they will be joined back together with their flesh to be judged by God. Then there is talk about a lake of fire. The second death.

"But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare". 2 Peter 3:6

Man has the ability to destroy itself .... God will step in before that happens ... but ... will allow it to progress to that end ... like in the days of Noah as the Lord said.

Sure. But here's something comical to humble mankind if he thinks he's all that for creating the nuke.

Consider one of God's tiniest creations - the aphid. It reproduces at such an astounding rate that if certain predators were to die off, the aphid would, in so many years, consume all of earth's plant life. Goodbye oxygen. And in so many more years would outweigh the earth itself. *

Just one of a myriad of examples of the delicate balance of nature. God can destroy this earth by any means that pleases Him - always could.

I'm banking my money that He'll do so according to His prophetic Word, just like the plethora of prophecies He's already fulfilled.

If such an ability existed, it would wipe out more than just Homo sapiens. According to the fossil record, animal species seem to live for 1-2 million years, and then they disappear. Unless we develop technology to leave the planet, the same would apply to us. That seems to be nature's way. But in about 5 billion years, the Sun will become a red giant, and expand outwards. Mercury and Venus will be vaporized. Depending on the Sun's diameter, Earth might or might not have the same fate. But even if not, it'll be a lifeless, burnt-out rock.

NASA does not back up Musk at all that we can live on another planet. That is not his purpose anyways. What the want to do is tap into a asteroid to bring rare elements back to the earth. My son worked on a robot that could be used for core samples. Some elements cost hundreds of thousands of dollar. If they were not so expensive they would like to use them to make things like dental instrument's.

God made man from the dust of the earth. If you want life on Mars then you have to make it from whatever elements you find there on Mars. Science is starting to discover how fine tuned life really is. The universe and the laws of physics are very accurate and precise. More than anyone can imagine. We see this in the butterfly effect.

Leave the planet, hmm.. I have a curious question about that. Just who is going to be the first volunteers to blast off from earth on that assignment? They would have to be willing to spend their entire lives in a space capsule for the sole purpose of procreating the next generation to follow suit, ect. ect. Any takers?

Sounds about as promising as perpetuating the species for the sake of perpetuating the species down here - and nothing more. Doesn't anybody have a vision or hope beyond that for themselves and their progeny?

Ah yes, some do... but it starts with the perpetuation of the human soul first, being the supreme ambition above saving a planet already doomed by sin:
