  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Does Science Agree With the Bible?

"If you CAN'T explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough".

Albert Einstein
If you explain it and pretend to understand it, when you are shown wrong you can say science changes.

So in one instance, "incest" explains how Cain and Seth found wives,
YES IT WAS NORMAL IN THE DIFFERENT STATE PAST. iT IS SICKO NOW.
and "getting falling down naked drunk" is o.k...
Noah did get drunk, whoopee do

and yet the olive twig in the dove's beak inexplicably appears there as a "miracle of God".
The poster that dreamed that one up is out to lunch. There is no indication that the dove simply did not find a tree.

Exactly. It's not rocket science. And to really really really KNOW Him, we have to reject all empirical evidence that shows how the world works? We have to accept Christ as Savior. And it's invalidating to claim to know that someone really knows God or not. I know God. Really, really. How do I know? Because I have accepted Christ as my Savior AND I make it a point to have a relationship with Him. He reciprocates, although not always in a way we understand. Read the Bible, pray etc. And I've seen His work in my life. If it were not for His intervention, I wouldn't be alive to type this at all.

The earth and the entire universe (the world) are under the domain of Satan. To look to the world for answers (as science does), is to look to Satan, who is a lair.

On the contrary, the truth, can only be found in God.

Who you gonna believe?

God. And what He uses through science to show us about the world.

The "cause" is usually blamed on the person not having enough faith. Rubbish. Oh yeah, someone caught the flu because they didn't have faith in God or got cancer because of lack of faith. Or demons. We aren't in the middle ages anymore. Or, as we've figured out, in some cases the cause is a virus or an imbalance of brain chemicals. But I don't expect those who reject science to know that.

The definition of faith gets twisted. To me, faith means to believe that God is with us even in the difficult times.

Saying it does not make something true. Something all religious people could think about. Evidence and observation Mr Jester.

Guess I am the only Christian who thinks evidence and observation isn't the evil tool of Satan.

Yet it took 20 pages of argument to get to this simple answer. Wow.

God. And what He uses through science to show us about the world.
Rendering unto science is a self-fulfilling prophecy. If you believe the world is more than a temporary "creation" that is passing away, then that is the more you will inherit. On the contrary, if you believe that the more that God has promised, is not of this world, then that is the more you will inherit.

You cannot serve two masters.

Good ol fashioned moral relativism.
I mean, these were people back then, and not some sort of proto-human, right?
People who lived 1000 years, and under different laws perhaps. Hard to imagine that in the present world I know. But even good and evil cannot be based just n the present physics and DNA etc.

Rather more like recognizing that life isn't always fair. And I do believe in more that God has promised, although it's hard to remember that when life is hard. You have no right to say that I don't as you don't even know me. I think you missed the point of the post. One doesn't develop faith without going through trials.

Rendering unto science? Rendering unto reality is more like it. And I will render to reality through science, which God uses to teach us about this world. When one chooses to believe what science has blatantly shown us as well as the advancements it's made, I don't believe that is serving two masters. That's ridiculous.

Been there done that. I don't see a point in ignoring empirical evidence and data because it's not like that will make it go away. I am fine with my beliefs thanks. You aren't. But that's not my issue.

How people can so obstinately cling to beliefs (that mental illness is caused by demons and other nonsense) - that have been proven to have a chemical, natural cause in this day and age baffles me. I prefer to reason, giving thanks to the brain God gave me. Hello 21st century.

Which is real, the Creator, or those things created that are passing away?

Nonetheless, science tells you God is a liar. Believe what you will.
