Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Does it really matter that much?

I'm tired today. My patient today probably died shortly after I left. I hope his family got there eventually. I spent a lot of my time just holding his hand and "petting" his hair like a mother would do. I'm not sure if he was aware I was there.

I came home and couldn't fill out parts of my nursing assessment like "sexual history". I guess it probably doesn't matter (well, I know it doesn't but I hope my instructor agrees)..and I'm guessing he has been living without sex for a long while. That is just how life eventually goes for most of us whether we like it or not. I kind of doubt that porn has played a big deal in his life either since I suspect that he has been bedridden for a little while...plus I imagine that the nursing homes kind of frown on those movies going in the community room dvd player.

I kind of thought I would give up posting anything, at least for a while. But I want to say that the world needs people like you who care enough. It must get discouraging knowing only so much can be done.

Ecclesiastes 11:8 "Even those who live many years should rejoice in them all; yet let them remember that the days of darkness will be many. All that comes is vanity."

Yes, we strive and fight and work and scheme like the next great thing, whatever it is, will buy happiness. Then that great hope becomes today's ennui, and today's ennui becomes tomorrow's bitterness. So we play the game again until there is no game left in us. Could it be that serving others, especially when it is seemingly thankless, offers a glimpse outside of the endless loop of the game?

I suspect that your patient had some sense that you were there trying to comfort him. I think our spirit still knows even if that can't be expressed thru ones body that is so weak.

and even if he didn't know God knows! Your job is an important one and I know you will excel at it, as hard as it is sometimes. We were never promised a rose garden but we do have hope and our hope is in the Lord! :hug::hug::hug:

Amen what Wisdom :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:!

BR; what you have done is show Christ's love to someone who needed to see it--'... I was sick, and ye visited me...(Matthew 25:36). These are Jesus words to the sheep, that will inherit His Kingdom Matthew 25:34.

Just by performing your job as unto the Lord, you will receive a great reward of inheritance (Colossians 3:23-24). By showing this kind of mercy you will find mercy from God yourself (Matthew 5:7).
