Does it give us an idea of where heaven is in the bible?

its kinda seems to me that the way heavens mentioned in the bible that heaven is above us? like in genisis when God spereated the "firmanent'??(spell?) from the heaven and earth......im lost as to where in general heaven is. i think ppl used to think way back that it was above the clouds or somthing.

Consider:

2 Corinthians 12:2 I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth) such an one caught up to the third heaven.

The scriptures teach 3 heavens. The first is our near earth atmosphere. The second is all that extends beyond the first. The "third heaven" is God's abode which is a "spiritual" realm that is above, over and around the created heavens in which we dwell. It may be said that WE are the heart of God. The center of His attention and love. So Consider:

John 1:1-9 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. 6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. 8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. 9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

Colossians 1:16-17 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: 17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

Jesus was with the Father IN HEAVEN before the heavens of this creation were created.

Thinking of heaven as a place above the earth is somewhat strange due to the fact that someone pointing up in Australia is pointing a different direction than I would.

I think that the physical realm, as you know it, is too shallow to understand where heaven is. Heaven is in the spiritual realm and is not in the same dimension region as our 4 dimensional world we live in. There is so much that science can tell us about God. And the more we learn about science, the more we learn the Awesomeness of God.

Where's Heaven? Up (Ephesians 4:10, Rev. 20:1-3). Where's Hell? Down. Where are they in the spiritual realm? I have no idea, except that Hell is not where God is.
