Does God sometimes stop us from willful sin

I know as true born again Christians we should not engage in wilful sin, nor should we have the desire to, but recently I got too tempted to do something, I tried to convince myself that we are all sinners and even as born again Christians we would still sin every now and then. Long story short, I found that every time I attempted to commit this sin, it was like doors were closing and preventing me from being able to actually commit the sin.

I know God gives us free will but I am a little confused with what I experienced but also grateful that I wasn’t able to go ahead with the sin as I know that particular sin would lead me down a terrible slippery slope.

has anyone experienced this?

Yes, God does that.
Other times, He may let us "touch a hot stove," if it will benefit us in the long term.

What makes you different then any other believer? Without Christ your both lost. Its Christ in you thats what matters. He did it all. The Father sees you through what the Son has already done. You are in right standing with God because you believe in Jesus as its written. So what to do..hmm maybe take our eyes off the sin or thats all you will see. Get up dust off keep going :) Forgive yourself. There are times I really believe we all get stuck in some sin. It does for sure seem as if we are willingly sinning at times.. haha yeah sure if we want to lie say some never have :)

See we NEED Him. Why He came and died. This flesh has not been changed and is the same as it was before He found you. What's changed is the NEW MAN which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. And you are free.. you are no longer bound to any sin. No sin has power over us unless we allow it. It can be blinding meaning it can seem at times were still slaves yet.. thats a lie. Who the son sets free is free indeed.

I'll share a testimony. Back in college when I was a new believer I was tempted to smoke some weed. I did and when I got to my dorm and sat at my desk I was pushed down in a praying position and almost had the prayer for forgiveness forced out of me. As soon as I was done praying I was sober as if I'd never smoked

The closer I get to Jesus the more I see how He is in control. You can either be scared of it (not in a bad way just in awe) or accept that Jesus loves You and is helping you be the best you possible, with His plan in your life. You have the God of the universe helping you how cool is that.

Read
1 Corinthians 10:13
New International Version

13 No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

We can expect to be tempted in this life. The devil wants to spoil our witness, our concience and our walk with God.

True enough. He has us focusing on ourselves, our self interest, the original sin by having us all about our personal salvation instead of the salvation Jesus taught , where He said God would return to take away authority from oppressive man.
