This might be a silly question. I’ll give you some context to why I’m asking this.

A few days ago I was walking my dog. I ended up chatting with a girl and having a nice little conversation. We parted ways after that. She said she went to the park regularly around a certain time. Out of enjoyment of our conversation I walked my dog at a similar time to see if I could bump into her again. I didn’t see her the whole walk but just as I was leaving I saw that she walked past. I’m super frustrated by a circumstance like that. Does God play jokes on people just to test their patience?

I guess it kind of depends on what you mean by joke. It's probably not funny to God, but he might cause something that seems like a joke to you. I've been in all sorts of situations where it seemed like God was messing with me. He uses weird things sometimes to get our attention. Don't dismiss what happened as merely a joke, but there might not be anything to it.

There are a couple of times when God laughs. In psalms 2:1-6 He laughs at the Kings that plot against Him. In psalms 37:13 He laughs at the wicked. I don’t think that God plays tricks on people just to laugh at them. He is not the author of confusion.

Why blame God and not the girl? It was her who was late, not God. You know things happen, i bet there are times when you run late too, either way, she does not owe you anything at all! If you are frustrated because you are not getting your way, then you must work on that. God does not play jokes on people, it's us who refuse to take responsibitity for our actions and beliefs.

Do you fall in love with that girl? ^_^

No it’s not falling in love, I’m just tired of my singleness. I’ve struggled with it for quite a while. I see the same people every week, do the same thing every day. I’ve been friend zoned by all the girls I’m interested in at church. All of a sudden a different girl who’s my age comes along it peaks my interest. Maybe it’s a curse I have but it gives me a tiny glimpse of hope that maybe I will get married someday. Then like typical life that single moment passes and I’m left to live my life in singleness.

That is why I asked the question whether God plays jokes. I get hope, only to have it taken away shortly after.

By now all of us should know that things can happen to delay us, we regularly may do something at a given time but it don't mean that we be dogmatic about it, 'cause things can happen to delay us.
Also, if the girl isn't available or open to a relationship yet, she may have chosen
not to be there at her regular time.

Enjoy the time spent for what it is not what you wished it could be...write it
up as... I had a good chat with a nice girl while we walked our dogs in the park.
...thank you Lord that I had someone to talk to.

How old are you?
Being single/unmarried is not a bad idea, you can spend more time to serve God in Church.
