  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Does God love sinners?

Does he love you? what were you before you confessed in His name and became a believer in Christ? Does he Love you?

Who did Christ minister too? the saved? or the unsaved?
when did Christ perform miracles? on the sabbath?

Edouard.
May you see God's grace in all that love Him.

This is what I was looking for, somebody that believed without a doubt that God loves the sinner.

So Edouard, let me ask you, does God approve of sin? What does it mean to love somebody? To approve of them?

btw john 3:16 says that WHILE we were STILL sinners Christ died for us. This means that those of us in which God approves of, no longer sin, because of the process of repentance.

God hates the sinner.

"I've God loved sinners, wouldn't He do the same thing that sinner do?

No, love is not defined as "doing the same thing another person does"?

God hates the sinner.

So He died for those he hated? Apprently God hates St Paul too because St Paul called himself "chief" or "first among sinners"[ Timothy 1:15]

Psalm 5:5 (New International Version)
5 The arrogant cannot stand in your presence;
you hate all who do wrong.

Psalm 5:5 (New American Standard Bible)
5The (A)boastful shall not (B)stand before Your eyes;
You (C)hate all who do iniquity.

Psalm 5:5 (King James Version)
5The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity.

What's it mean when the Bible tells us that God hates the sinner? The worker of iniquity, all who do wrong? Don't take my word for it. Just read.

And don't justify this situation to fit your own desires. To hate is not a sin, UNCONFORMITY TO CHRIST is a sin and only unconformity.

God hate's the sinner, because the sinner is one who has a life of habitual sin. Not a single creature has the ability to be perfect, for non of the creatures are close to comparing to God himself.

But the habitual sinners, yes, he does hate them, because they trample his name.

All are sinners and all have fallen short of the glory of God. Anyone who sins is a sinner whether once or habitually. I do agree very much with your first quoted passage which very much seems to be against arrogance and pride. Do you believe that hate is in conformity with Christ?

Arrogant, boastful and proud-I agree that God hates rebellion against Him. Deliberately sinning is disobedience and those in church giving their sacrifices while sinning against them are not to be defended imo. But when someone comes into contact with a christian in common-law situations they are to be led to the truth as much as those who are stealing from their employees wages. The problem is that the churches don't teach from the bible any conviction of any sins. Sins that stem from love are the most obvious and condemned moreso than the sins from indifference and hate. That shouldn't be. Sin is sin. Why concern yourself so much with those that commit a love crime and omit the hate crimes. Which ones do you think God has compassion on more? Love is from Him, hate is not.

I've been coming in contact with a lot of men that are preaching gospels that have been modified to suite the desires of men. I can see that both of you are stand up Christians, I have love and respect for all of you.

This is a time that I may sharpen myself, as well as others, on the Truths about our God.

Hate does come from God. If you love like God, then you will also learn to hate like God hates.

Amos 5:15
Hate evil, love good; maintain justice in the courts. Perhaps the LORD God Almighty will have mercy on the remnant of Joseph.

Malachi 2:16
"I hate divorce," says the LORD God of Israel, "and I hate a man's covering himself with violence as well as with his garment," says the LORD Almighty. So guard yourself in your spirit, and do not break faith.

Deuteronomy 16:22
and do not erect a sacred stone, for these the LORD your God hates.

Deuteronomy 12:31
You must not worship the LORD your God in their way, because in worshiping their gods, they do all kinds of detestable things the LORD hates. They even burn their sons and daughters in the fire as sacrifices to their gods.

What we must understand is that EVERYTHING IS FROM GOD. God has created everything. The problem is, that we men have perverted the things that were meant for good. Modified the beautiful things of god for detestable sensual pleasures.

Everything is from God.

God loves us. Just as we love our kids, but disagree, even hate what they do sometimes, God loves us, but hates what we do sometimes.

I don't think God hates habitual sinners. I think it hurts Him, and grieves Him. When someone spits in God's face long enough, He lets them go. THIS is the worst thing God can do to someone who is constantly fighting against HIm is to give the person to their own lusts. Hopefully, they will get to the point of disgusting themselves so that they will come back to Him.

Jesus didn't hate anyone. Sinners and tax collectors were comfortable in His presence, because He loved everyone where they are, and rather than push people into heaven, Jesus showed love and forgiveness, and then walked, allowing them to follow Him. That's what we have to do with sinners. Love them, including showing them the sin in their lives IN LOVE, without condemnation, and make them curious enough for them to want to follow us to Jesus. That's what Paul said, "Follow me, even as I follow Christ."

I agree. But what I notice is that it is what the wicked do that God hates. He hates their detestable ways. He hates a lying tongue. He hates evil, hates divorce. He hates that I am divorced. He doesn't hate me for getting a divorce. There's a small but significant difference.

I recently had a discussion with somebody on this very thing. The person believed that God only loves the believers, and hates those who don't believe (until they actually make the step to accept Him as their personal Lord and Savior). In the discussion, I pointed out John 3:16 (which explains the greatest act of love for the world - the whole world), as well as Matthew 5:43-45 in which Jesus Himself instructs His followers to "love your enemies and pray for those who spitefully persecute you" (some of whom, of course, are not Christians) -- from this verse, I would conclude that God would not tell His followers to do something that He won't do Himself.

Later on, I ran across this interesting link regarding this very issue, which also does a good job of clearing up the confusion surrounding the very word itself:

Good point..and what is the commandment of Jesus but to love the fraternity of believers, wash each others feet, and make disciples to Him.

Wow.. Theres nothing but justifying people in this post.

It sucks to think that God actually hates sinners doesn't it. But it's what the bible says, "twist not scripture, lest you be like Satan."

We can all sit around and justify ourselves in our wicked ways, and quote john 3:16 all day long. Telling ourselves God hates that I do this.. But he doesn't hate me. How ignorant, the knowledge of this world.

Man will continue to justify themselves in their detestable perversions, so that they don't have to admit that they actually have to turn from it.

Just as I could manipulate any verse and pull in all kinds of worldy ignorance into Romans 10:9, so you will too in order to justify wickedness.

The theme throughout the scriptures is consistent REPENT, REPENT, REPENT.

I guess you'll never admit that God hates the sinner if you can't admit that you're ways are detestable in his sight.

That's some pretty poor guessing there, John. Perhaps if you knew the choir you're preaching to a bit better ...

You're right, I don't know any of you. But I know that God has nothing good to say about the sinners. There's nothing but reserved wrath for the sinner in God's book, so how can you people sit there and tell me that God loves these people?

Is this whole earthly realm not designed to separate the sheep from the goats?

God Says that he knows the wicked and their schemes
God's power is set against the wicked
God punishes the wicked
God will not pity the wicked
God's favor is denied to the wicked
God's anger is threatened against the wicked
God's indignation is against the sinner
God's wrath is threatened against the sinner
God's angels inflict his judgement on the wicked
God hates the wicked
God's jealousy is threatened against the sinner
God forsakes the wicked
God rejects the wicked
Christ inflicts punishments on the wicked
The wicked do not know the True God

I could continue for hours. All of this is directly from the bible.

How can you sit there and tell me that even though God loves these wicked people, he's still willing to send them to Hell for eternity.
