  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Does evolution have a chance?

The SNPs (about a million have been identified) that are that majority of these differences that have been directly observed result in genetic disorders like cancer and brain tumors. Changes like these do not get selected since they are inheritantly deleterious.

that's not actually true. You need to do more reading mark, before saying things like this. I can't believe that you are still making such fundamental errors about evolution here. I really can't. I think part of the problem is that because of your preconcieved notions about what you want the answer to be, you aren't investigating these things properly and aren't thinking laterally enough.

You just kill me, I can't believe how easy you make this. The paper was peer reviewed and if there had been an error I doubt seriously it would have made it to publication. Maybe you would like to inform the authors of their error, I would love to see you try.
do the maths yourself mark - i find it hard to believe too, but unless you can find some way to multiply 3 billion by 1.23 percent and arrive at 3.7 million instead of 37 million then I think its an error

maybe i'm making a mistake - if so, could someone point it out

The fact is that I have done the math and it's 6.6 per year for 6 million years.

well, to be more accurate its <6.6, because at least some of the mutations occured in the chimp lineage

Of course they are neutral, except the ones that cause tumors, cancer and other disease, did you have some kind of a point here.
just that you get things wrong mark

That particular assertion is based on evidence and you have provided vitually none to support your arguments. It's fun though, poking holes in your baseless rationalizations. Its a little too much like fish in a bucket but there are so few evolutionists with a real interest in the genetic basis of human evolution I take what I can get.
what evidence - all you have is a number, you haven't made an argument out of it yet - you just keep asserting that its too big

being that I have a BSc and majored in genetics, I'd say I do have a real interest in the genetic basis of evolution - it just annoys me when people make baseless assertions
