  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Greetings Ladies and Gentlemen:

I was just wondering if everything that happens in our life does for a reason and God is trying to work though it at all times. Let me elaborate -

It seems that life happens randomly and in our peripheral vision. We filter out allot as not significant. For example you are in traffic and swerve to miss a raccoon in the road and someone swears at you and you decide to flip them off. If you were there five minutes later it would never have happened and a day later you don't even remember the incident. However was it a test from God? Will we be accountable for everything we do and say and is God trying to talk to us every second of our lives? Is not to understand that a trap of the enemy? Also how can we hear God's voice at all times? That is what I really want to know. :mmh:

Well, if we look at Jesus' teachings, we see that in Matthew 12:33-37. Jesus used the parable of a tree and it's fruit.

"Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree badand its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit. Brood of vipers! How can you speak good things when you are evil? For the mouth speaks from the overflow of the heart.A good man produces good things from his storeroom of good, and an evil man produces evil things from his storeroom of evil.I tell you that on the day of judgment people will have to account for every careless word they speak. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned."
We will be held accountable for every action we do according to our own free will. BUT Jesus also taught that anyone who believes Him who has sent [Him] (Jesus) shall pass judgment. John 5:25,27-29. The believers will be resurrected to life, the non believers resurrected to judgment.

Colossians 3:12-17 shows us how to live for God, In that same chapter, verses 23-25, everything we do, is supposed to be done for the Lord. However, we are only human and we will screw up. Those screw ups come back at us. Flipping someone off, will bring about a consequence, but is forgiven through Jesus Christ.

If God dwells in your heart, then He works His will through you. (Philippians 2:13). God is always working to build and build up the relationship between you and Him. There are a lot of traps from the Enemy. Believing that God is not trying to build a relationship with us, is most certainly deception from the Devil to pull you away from the LORD. Satan, is as the scripture say, prowling the earth like a lion, set out to deceive anyone in his path.

We can hear Gods voice at all time by living by the Spirit. Romans 8:12-17 will tell you about that. It is my personal belief that sometimes God will allow you not to feel His presence, as a test of faith. If you know this in the scriptures, share! =]

Hmmm you mean like the testing of Job or our Lord on the cross saying, "my God my God why have you left me?". I suppose God does not tempt us, but he does test us to make our faith stronger. Do our own actions determine what these tests are? I find that a very sobering thought. I usually don't do long biblical quotes but I think I am inspired here. in Job 23 Job talks about his testing and how it was refining him like gold. He also talks about not knowing where to find God to put forward his case:

1 Then Job replied:
2 "Even today my complaint is bitter;
his hand is heavy in spite of my groaning.

3 If only I knew where to find him;
if only I could go to his dwelling!

4 I would state my case before him
and fill my mouth with arguments.

5 I would find out what he would answer me,
and consider what he would say.

6 Would he oppose me with great power?
No, he would not press charges against me.

7 There an upright man could present his case before him,
and I would be delivered forever from my judge.

8 "But if I go to the east, he is not there;
if I go to the west, I do not find him.

9 When he is at work in the north, I do not see him;
when he turns to the south, I catch no glimpse of him.

10 But he knows the way that I take;
when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold.

11 My feet have closely followed his steps;
I have kept to his way without turning aside.

12 I have not departed from the commands of his lips;
I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my daily bread.

13 "But he stands alone, and who can oppose him?
He does whatever he pleases.

14 He carries out his decree against me,
and many such plans he still has in store.

15 That is why I am terrified before him;
when I think of all this, I fear him.

16 God has made my heart faint;
the Almighty has terrified me.

17 Yet I am not silenced by the darkness,
by the thick darkness that covers my face.

Then in John chapter 3 Jesus says:

5Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. 6Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit[b] gives birth to spirit. 7You should not be surprised at my saying, 'You[c] must be born again.' 8The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit."

Does this mean we are always to seek God to find out where his direction is coming from? Or will that never be possible?

I believe everything happens for a reason good and bad because that's how we learn and when we learn we can be a help to others that may have that same experience or can warn someone before the have that same experience. People say oh I got off track but, they learned something while they were off track. Stay Blessed!

Everything that you experience there is something that you learned from it. If all we experience was good things then what would we know. Most people who are called to pastor have a history some type of background but, the reason why they do so they can relate to people and understand people. Unfortunate things happen to people and sometimes it's not things they caused themselves but, if they build off it and not allow it to break them down they can benefit someone else. They can be a rock to someone else. God is complicated and I doubt we will know all while on earth. Theres never just one reason why and sometimes it takes time to see why or how it can benefit others. So we just rely and trust in God that he will help us through all situations.

All The Glory Belongs To God!
