No one has a spirit in the sense of some ghostly form inhabiting their skin. God breathed into man the breath of life, and man became a living soul. The 1 Part breath of God + 1 Part earth (formed in His image & likeness) = man.

Spirit is used alot to talk about ones disposition, save for the times when it's referring to demon possession or the Holy Spirit.

I'm assuming that you believe in direct translation to Heaven after death. Maybe you can tell us why the dead are resurrected when Jesus comes and how it works that the wicked are judged after the 1000 years? Do they go to a place of waiting, like the Catholic purgatory? Or do the wicked and the righteous live together in Heaven til the judgement is finished?

The spirit can pray, give thanks and sing.

The spirit is an entity in a person that knows his thoughts.

God alone is immortal:

1Ti 6:16 who alone has immortality, who dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has ever seen or can see. To him be honor and eternal dominion. Amen.


He gives it to those He wishes, but only He has it as an element of His being.

So no, there is no text that says the spirit or soul is immortal.

But then if you raise an argument not being made you are addressing a strawman.
