• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

    If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

    If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I get depressed all the time and sometimes I even come home from school and go to my room and cry. All of my friends never suffer from depression. I feel awful all the time because my house is old and falling apart and my dad is mean. It never ever ends.
My sister used to have a phyciatrist, but we couldn't afford to pay him. I go to the Bible to find solice; but I can't find any passage about depression. What do you think I should do?

thank you for your time

here is psalm 23

The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul:
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name' sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: For thou art with me;
Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies;
Thou annointest my head with oil; My cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the House of the Lord forever.

An example of depression in the bible is Job. My youth leader pointed me to that, because even though Job was depressed, in the end he turned it all over to God and God helped him and blessed him.

I also encourage you to seek help, just as HoneyComb Son said

I bet you're not the only one of your friends suffering from depression. It's very common in your age group, and it's also very common for people to keep it a secret.

For myself, I find that keeping busy helps my mood. Exercise can natural endorphins that can improve your mood. Doing activities that you love can not only take your mind off your problems, but give you something to feel good about. Maybe you can find some outlet, like art, or writing, or dance, that will allow you a way of expressing your feelings, and creating something new?
