• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Does anyone here post on Fisheaters.com?

I'm curious as almost all of the threads that Michie usually posts about particular news data, usually surface in very similar threads in Fisheaters' Catholic forum as well. The identical articles, usually, Fisheaters will precede OBOB in posting, but not always. I just found this curiously odd over the past year or so.

I've never heard of the place. I have several sources I subscribe to that bring the articles to me. Can't answer for the other site. *shrug*

I've noticed the weekly Catholic paper I get from our area has the same articles too. But I've already read them.

Whats so odd about it? It's Catholic news.

No; actually all discussion of Sedevacantism is forbidden there. And almost all Sedevacantists have left. Almost any one I talk to either attends a Diocesian TLM, the SSPX, FSSP, or the Institute of Christ the King.

Do any of you post/have posted there?

I normally post there. I go by one of the former usernames that I used to post by here, Ravenonthecross.

They're resources are very good. I use it a heck of a lot. Very solid and orthodox information, and completely in line with the Holy Catholic faith. And I've seen some posters dog on the Pope [mainly on JPII on how too "ecumenical" he was. And no, not the good kind, but the "wishy-washy" kind of "ecumenical"]. Pope Benedict XVI is generally viewed highly favourably there. Most love him. And as always they are some nay-sayers, but that's to be expected.

I just lurk at Fish Eaters. Their community seems too close-knit so that I would feel like I was butting in if I tried to get active. But it doesn't bother me, someone always says what I am thinking eventually.

Yes, also their resources are brilliant!

Regards,
Jon Paul.

I am a traditionalist but not an ultra-traditionalist. Hence, Fisheaters is not the place for me. It's more of a place for ultra-traditionalists than it is for traditionalists. I tend to stay away from that site because I worry that they might be a little too cozy with groups like the SSPX.

...........Ok. So, you're a trad now, are ya Ave Maria? Have you had any luck with staying Catholic, or are you having trouble still with leaving the Holy Mother Church?

I suppose that I fall into the minority here on the OBOB subforum as an SSPX sympathizer. Oh, well.

I was, pretty much, one of the originals at Fisheaters. I know the site owner - a very nice tradition-minded gal who spent years gathering up all the info that's posted on the site. She certainly is not sede nor does she even care for that. She tried to be accommodating to everyone but that didn't work out to well. So sedes have been banned. Her husband pretty much runs the site now and I haven't posted there in eons myself. But aside from the forum part of it, the info pages are the best I've seen. Latin Mass Magazine used to link to the info pages on their website.

I've been a traditional Catholic ever since I became Catholic. I don't believe in being a Catholic who picks and chooses what they want to believe. And yes, I have had some luck with staying with the Church. I occasionally have doubts but I have yet to actually leave the Church.

If you knew me, you'd know why I have trouble staying Catholic. I have a disorder known as borderline personality disorder which results in instability in the way that I view myself. This includes instability in religious matters. I humbly ask for your forgiveness if I have offended you somehow.

I love their info pages; there spectacular. I think either VoxClamantis or QuisUtDeus runs it mainly. Either one does, I forget who's managing it now.

I also like their info pages. They are pretty good.

Count me as part of that minority too mate, I even attend my "local" SSPX chapel when I absolutely can't make it to the only other TLM that is nearby.

C'mon! We don't bite...............much. ;) Take dip into the "fishtank." I'll pray for you Ave Maria. I remember you saying that before about your personal cross. I'll keep in my prayers.
