• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Does anyone else?

It is true that there have been, and are, christians who bully others into submitting to their beliefs. We are paying the price for that in the media and in circumstances like this.

The youngest generation is self identifying as Christian at somewhere around 10%... we need to wake up and realize that we are no longer going to be the majority in America, and in a democracy the majority generally rules. The debate over homosexuality is only the latest in a long line of public debates that Christian morality is going to lose because the public in general, despite over 3/4's identifying themselves as Christian, does not hold biblical morals anymore... large numbers are trying to attract the world to the church by abandoning unpopular beliefs and embracing the world's values, and seminaries are teaching pastors to do this, and minimizing the authority of the Bible in the Christian life. What do you think things will be like when professed Christians are only 15-20% of the population overall, and the majority of them don't hold to Biblical morals? You need to ask yourselves this question, because that is the direction America is going. Without a major revival, Christians will be just another minority group in the US by the time people my age die.

Love without holiness is not God's love, and holiness without love is not holiness at all.

Chick-fil-A never boycotted the Muppets for their pro-gay stance, yet the Muppets are essentially boycotting Chick-fil-A for their anti-gay stance. Chick-fil-A was never bullying anyone, and I'll bet that they'd serve a Muppet if one came in for a meal.

That may be what gets the OP mad. There is a militant activist segment of the pro-gay community that's trying to force their agenda into the social norms, and if you resist you're intolerant and called out as being a bigot. In the case of a business your very existence may be put in jeopardy simply for holding to traditional Christian values.

 Yes, exactly so! And then they call us a bigot, or "homophobe," which is truly inflammatory verbiage in the most literal sense. (I know people that like to go out and burn things up when they hear that, so I think maybe the militants should cool it)

Companies don't typically take religious positions, but Chik-fil-A has chosen to do so. That opens them to judgement based on it. However this particular offense seems overblown. They gave free food to a marriage seminar done by an organization that is apparently anti-gay. Depending upon the nature of the seminar, that sort of guilt by association seems like it's marginal. And the widespread reaction to Chik-fil-A based on this seems uncalled for.

However in the long run it's going to be difficult for a company to take an official religious position and not end up having trouble. In particular, they can expect State educational institutions to have concerns. I don't think we would want an organization on campus that discriminated in hiring, promotion or general corporate culture based on religion or sexual preference. I'm not sure how they can be meaningfully conservative Christian without doing that.

Hey there sister. I would imagine you get upset about it because it is out of your control. You love our Lord, the Father and quite naturally feel protective over him. You don't want people acting so selfishly and sinfully.

God created man and woman for a reason. God himself said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number" Man and Man can not be fruitful and increase in number. Neither can Woman and Woman. We can love the same sex, live with the same but what I think is wrong is having sexual relations with the same sex.

I hope you are well x

Peace be with you

Craig

Let me just add that I do love all people, which include homosexuals. I am a sinner myself so have no right to judge people. I could quite happily eat, drink or lay with a homosexual. This is just another type of sin. All sins are equal.

I hear August 1 has been established as a day where we can stand with Chik-fil-A by patronizing them. Let's vote with our $$ on that day! Chik-fil-A here I come. (Hmm, I wonder if I'll be greeted by any picketers?)

Agreed. Will do. IMO it is important as Christians to make the truth more important than cave to societal "norms". Our patronage will do this.
