I think they were good in their time, but they have grown way over play and over rated.

Soundgarden came before Nirvana but Nirvana was more melodic; they set the course for music of the 90's in a huge way. Soundgarden never set a course. Not that that's bad. And how many albums has Nirvana sold? Why so many? Because so many people like their music even to this very day. Sadly they also brought on the death of true "grunge" music.
