  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Does anyone else love switchfoot???

Yes. I crank up the volume on the "we were meant to live for so much more" song (is it called meant to live or something? I dunno) and sing very loudly, whether there are others in the car or not. More often than not, they will join in and we sing a very noising, off key version of the song. It's lots of fun.

I am a switchfoot fan tooo!!!!! Love them and have two albums, I am am waiting for Legend of Chin and New way to be human to come in the mail!
I have a question though...
I noticed in the learning to breath CD, in the lyrics, that they capitalized "YOU" and "YOUR" b/c of them referencing the Lord and to be proper...However, in this new CD, they don't capitalize!! Are they not talking about GOD then? LIke in "On Fire"? Or is it b/c they have made it big and are trying to fit into secularism????
Just an observation, a disappointing one really...
Please tell me I am wrong...
LEt me know what you think....

Yes, please. I just saw them yesterday at DC101 chili Cook-Off in downtown DC, they are really good live. I don't want to be one of "those guys", but a friend got me listening to their songs before the "Walk to Remember" soundtrack came out in '02 and I'm glad they are getting so much airplay now. Chevelle played at the concert as well, I like them a ton. I would say that it seemed the majority of the people there might not have known they were listening to 2 Christian bands, but everyone was having a great time. As a side note, I wouldn't worry too much about bands like P.O.D. and Switchfoot trying to fit into secularism to in order to take off mainstream, you've got to figure that the most tempting time for them to "soften" their views so as to try for the largest audience base is when they are struggling/not yet established. They have shown more than enough talent and conviction to get them where they are thus far.
