• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Does anyone else have it where they get a thought "if you dont do X a certain number of times, Y (punishment, or something bad that I don't want to occur) will happen? Is it God?

Alright, maybe these could help.

Anxiety devotional:

Three passages on anxiety: Matthew 6:25-34, Isaiah 41:10 and Psalm 46:1-2

And, here are some verses:

1. "And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." - Philippians 4:7 (NIV)

This verse emphasizes the importance of peace, which can help you cope with anxiety and fear. God's peace is something that surpasses all understanding and can guard your heart and mind when you trust in Him.

2. "But the LORD is faithful, and He will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one." - 2 Thessalonians 3:3 (NIV)

This verse reminds us that God is faithful and will protect you from the evil one. It's essential to trust in His faithfulness and protection, especially during difficult times.

3. "Casting all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you." - 1 Peter 5:7 (NIV)

This verse encourages us to cast our anxieties and fears on God because He cares for us. By doing so, we can find peace and relief in knowing that God is with us and wants to help us through our struggles.

4. "The LORD is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth." - Psalm 145:18 (NIV)

This verse reminds us that God is near to those who call on Him in truth. It's essential to be honest with yourself and God about your struggles, as this can help you find comfort and support during challenging times.

5. "The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold." - Psalm 18:2 (NIV)

This verse emphasizes God as our rock and refuge. He is our protector, our shield, and our deliverer. By trusting in Him and seeking His strength, we can find comfort and security during times of anxiety and fear.

Hi Harley,

That is one of Satan`s tricks to make us think that unless we do something - something bad will happen etc. Remember that demons watch us and sneak in our minds these thoughts. We must stand against that by saying what we believe about God. Read His word and get a scripture that stops those thoughts - I will never leave you nor forsake you,` says the Lord.

If you have done Tarot reading or other occult stuff you need to repent for they are a doorway for demons to enter your mind. Repent before God and ask for forgiveness. God forgives and the door is closed. The demons will try to trick you again but just remind them you are not under their power anymore. Speak God`s word out loud.

praying, Marilyn.

Hi marilyn, Thank you so much for your response! I was into new age for a few months before converting several years back, and its safe to say that is WAY behind me haha. It brought peace at first, sucked me in, and then got darker and darker and caused me sooooo much pain. Nevertheless, ive had this weird thing since I was 2. Ive thought for a long long time that it was God. People seem to be saying the oppisite and thats quite liberating for me.

So good to hear that Harley. Now you may have left the new Age philosophy in your mind, however, did you ever actually repent of that. For it is our will that we have given over to these demons. So, it is by our will, repenting that we close the door to them. Have a think about it and see if you have really closed the door, for they seem to keep troubling you.

I have to say though, not only this is not from God, but also a lot of times it is not from demons either, but a predisposition character based on our genetic traits. Of course, any involvement with the occult must be repented on our part. Our own false mental arguments and understandings of things also can create this (which can become strongholds in our minds). All of this OCD comes from anxiety. Fear is the root cause of OCD. In this situation, lots of prayers for God to guide and deliver us, and also correct counselling and therapy is needed. Through it all, you can be rest assured that God loves us and cares for us and wants us to be healthy in our bodies and our minds, and He will help us in our struggles.

Yeah. I don't really care if its demons tbh. I got God on my side, they can't do anything. I just want to make sure it ISNT God. Which...people seem to say it isnt.

Ya, God doesn't work that way(with repetitious thoughts). The repetitious(condemning) thoughts is a process of our own minds(based on fears), or demonic opression(we have to make sure its not demonic opression). This is definetly not God.
