What do you mean 'barely floating'? If I put a pen on a bit of silly putty do you fear it will be "barely floating" on the silly putty?
Place block of wood in the water and see how low it floats. It is floating, but barely. That earth's continental crust can be pushed downward so easily indicates that it is 'barely' floating on the 'silly putty' magma.
But even so, when all life is killed off across the globe at one instant there should still likely be a significant assemblage or numerous assemblages across the earth indicating a single event in which all life forms were killed off.
There are such assemblages, but scientists have other explanations of their origins.
I'm guessing most of the critters drowned within the first month or so of the flood, not in an 'instant'. Considering that the sea creatures were not the intended victims they must have enjoyed a great feast. Many of the carcasses that weren't eaten probably washed out to sea with the receding waters. Many would have been left on the surface to rot, not entombed as fossils. The rather slow velocity of the flood waters wouldn't produce widespread fossil-forming sediments. In order for fossilization to occur the bodies must be right where the deposition occurs. And even then they might not be covered by the sediment but left on the surface of the deposition to merely rot away.
So why not just call it all "supernatural" and be done with it? Why twist all this scientific stuff into a knot in order to "explain" how a global event would leave not a single sign of its existence?
I have consistently opined that the whole thing is supernatural. 'Life' is the most unnatural thing in the universe, and it gets more so the more you study it.

Yes, as much there are flat earthers.Wait? There are really people who believe that a global flood happened?

Matthew 19:26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.A "global" flood is impossible.
Is this from the same science that said the atom couldn't be split? All available evidence would support your assertion.
Um...To generate a global flood water levels must raise more than 6000 meters. You would need an entire jupiter moon like Europa to bring that much water on earth.

Nice to meet you, Akira.lol i did not know that. Thats interesting.

So did Noah (only it wasn't called the US at the time).Yes, and unfortunately, most of them live in the US.

Sorry, Detroit; Wikipedia says otherwise.Detroit, not Jersey..
SOURCEThe Pitch Pine (also known as the Garside Tree) is found mainly in the northeastern United States, from Maine and Ohio to kentucky and northern Georgia. A few stands occur in southern Quebec and Ontario. This pine occupies a variety of habitats from dry, acidic sandy uplands to swampy lowlands, and can survive in very poor conditions; it is the primary tree of the New Jersey Pine Barrens.

E-scientists are not required to accept lists of real scientists, who are actually out in the field doing the work, and not just sitting at home behind a computer venting & ridiculing everything we hold sacred, while they breathe the air God created. Here is a list of global floodists, who accept also a literal creation:
