Letting go of a denomination can be hard because "everyones looking at what I'm doing! I'm unjoining this particular church! They'll stop and stare and talk about me.."

Oh well, I put my trust in God alone, not in men.

That's just it, being nondenominational leads people to a rejection of denomination, but that misses the intent. The unity of the Body of Christ comes when we stop rejecting and separating ourselves. It's our human nature to classify, quantify and put things into little organized boxes. None of that is Christ's way though. I hate saying I'm non-denominational, I rather like to say I don't follow any particular dogma or beliefs , but I accept all that is in the Word of God, through which I learn how to live a Christ-like life, and with the Holy Spirit endeavor to serve in the Church of God. I'm nondenominational is much shorter though... but sometimes the easy way...

Denominations are here for a reason. In the same way the body of Christ has different parts with different functions, so i believe denominations are here with the same idea.

Just my input. It shouldnt be important to you but you shouldnt rule out churches for their denomination in finding a home church. (im aware this is a little off topic)

Christians do not need a denomination. Christians need Jesus.
I believe denominations are just many facets of the most basic christian faith.
Denomination acts colours to Christianity, but it is not needed for a person to be saved.

Only a belief in Jesus as the savior saves a person.

I think someone said it best earlier by saying "There are no denominations in heaven." Different denominations exist because of the different ways people view the bible. My pops attends a non-denom church and it's actually pretty awesome (plus the pastor is the coolest dude ever), and I think anyplace where you can learn about god and praise his name is awesome.

The only drawback to a non-denominational church would have to be the differences from pastor to pastor. One non-denom church may have a totally different view than another, where as in a denominational church there is usually a common foundation or doctrine that the churches of that denomination goes by.

In the end we are all Christians though, and no matter what you are, we can all agree that jesus is #1 : )

The first requirement of a denomination is to have a specified name. These definitions are from Webster's New World Dictionary. "It is (1) the act of naming; (2) a name; (3) the name of a class of things; (4) a class or kind ... having a specific name...; (5) a religious sect: as a Protestant denomination."

The word heresy means sect or faction. Denominationalism and Sectarianism are man-made, not God-made, and are based upon the sin of division. God warns us plenty of times that division is a sinful and a work of the flesh (Galatians 5:19-20).

Every denomination is a sect, it divides the body of Christ, every church building that has a "membership" is a sect as well. You belong to the "local church" and are expected to frequent and support only it.

Every denomination is unbiblical and in disobedience to God. Yes God still takes care of His people wherever they are but that doesn't mean He endorses their sinful practices.

Each of you is saying, “I am with Paul,” or “I am with Apollos,” or “I am with Cephas,” or “I am with Christ.” Is Christ divided? Paul wasn’t crucified for you, was he? Or were you in fact baptized in the name of Paul? (1 Corinthians 1:12-13)
We do the same things today. "I am with the baptists" or "I am a catholic." Is Christ divided?

I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to agree together, to end your divisions, and to be united by the same mind and purpose. (1 Corinthians 1:10)

There is one body and one Spirit (Ephesians 4:4)
