Do you use Kentucky windage?

In boot camp they told us not to use it. They talked about how BZO was important. Then I ended up having to shoot a rifle with a bent front sight post. Kentucky windage seemed to work okay for the most part. Had to correct a bit more as distance increased.

Let me guess. Marine? Army's targets are too big to worry about pinpoint accuracy to that degree. You'll probably have to do it with RCO's. You set up for bzo, but don't adjust for windage.

As a Marine and also in firing rifles off duty I used it. Here in the Army, no need to. Nothing is more than 300 yds away and you don't even have to hit the target to get a hit; just hit the dirt right in front of it and it'll knock it down as a hit.

I've never 'had' to use it, but my longest distance was 200 yds.

I'm a Marine, and yes, when I use my RCO, I use kentucky windage. Never with Iron sights though. Thank goodness I haven't used iron sights since boot

With the RCO you have to Kentucky windage basically anything past the 200 yard line because the adjustments aren't exact. It's on a prism so the adjustments up or down aren't necessarily the same distance as the adjustments back.

Been watching the cable programs about military snipers. Seems they all use "hold off" They estimate how many mills they have to hold/aim high and left or right to hit the target. In Armor it is known as BOT "burst on target." Observe where the first round strikes then put that spot i.e. "the burst" on the target for a second round hit. The same principle is used when firing mounted weapons from a helicopter using a "heads up" sight.
