• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I was just wondering? Do you think that drinking say, one to two glasses of wine with supper, or one or two whisky's socially on a weekend is a sin? I'm sure that i understand from God that we are allowed but that we should not get Drunk? (not all things are.. profitable according to the Word?)
What is your take on this?

Hello...

I WAS going to say that drinking wasnt a sin, its the drunkeness, but you said you know all this. At first it seemed you answered your own question, so I was wondering what the point was... I think I get it now..

It is not a sin, but it could become a sin, so where is the line? Isnt that the real question here?

This is what I think.... we all must pray for guidance on such things. I do not think it is wrong to have a couple of drinks socially, however... in my opinion, having a couple of glasses of wine at a wedding is much different than downing some shots at a frat party. Even if you dont get drunk yourself, are you with people who are partying and getting very drunk? Are these non Christians that look to you as the only example of Christ they can find in their life? What portait of Christ are they seeing?

Understand I am not addressing these questions to you, just giving you examples of questions we all must ask ourselves. We are also not to cause a brother to stumble... many things we need to take into consideration. Sometimes things are just not black and white. Many people think if it is indeed a grey area, best to just avoid it altogether. That would definitely make things easier.

Well, those are my thoughts on it anyway.
