CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

simple plan suck, and im sure god wouldnt like their music either. And linkin park used to be alright, UNTIL they decided to tour with some rapper. Now they suck, and i know a lot of people have lost total respect for them.

Simple Plan and Linkin Park do not stink.Some people find different music enjoyment.Like one person can like Simple Plan and another can hate them.The fan is the one that knows by heart that they don`t care about what you say about them because of their song Shut Up!Pierre Bouvier also said that too.The hater may have a perfect life,while others have a life with only one parent or divorced parents and getting bad grades.The fan may listen to these songs to know that they are not the only ones with bad lives.I sometimes get bullied and I play Shut Up! when I get home.It keeps me from defending myself and losing my temper.I always play the songs when my step dad and mom are arguing.I don`t get bad grades,but I usually get in an arguement with my parents or brothers and I play these songs to calm my temper down.My favorite person of Simple Plan is Pierre Bouvier(vocals).

funny, i don't rember that verse.
some people might find enjoyment in some music, yes, but that doesn't make it good music.
we should never be hurtful to others, but disagreeing with the quality of band is another story altogether.
they are not your band any more than they are my band, as neither one of us are in the band. as i mentioned above, you may very well like this band, but that doesn't make them a good band, and i have every right to discuss those bands that i think suck, and even to mention that they suck. beethoven, mozart, chopin: all revered men for a reason. think about it.

For me, choosing what music I listen to, is hard, because I want to stay true to my faith.if they r anything liek metallica, dotn get me started.I think simple plan r an ok band, they arent christian, but they arent worshiping satan.
When you choose what music you listen to, you need to think about the words.....a friend listened to metallica infront of me and all i heard was ' devil take my soul' somethimg I didnt like.
You need to think how you would feel if Jesus was there when you were listening to the cd, if you feel guilty, it isnt a good choice.

how about this...it's an easy decision: if it causes you to stumble, dont get it. if not, than get it and enjoy. i mean, i personally think they suck, but if you like them, get the new album. please, someone argue against my point.

Very often I find secular music 1) is more edifying than most of the Christian music I've heard 2) is much, MUCH better as far as musicality/lyrics than Christian music I've heard, and 3) has originality, while it seems many (not all, lest people get unnecessarily offended) Christian artists try to just water down secular music concepts, put generic Christian lyrics, and ta-da, have an album. People get so concerned about if a secular album is going to make God angry...just listen to the music you like for reasons that God wouldn't condemn.
