If they believe that 'with ardor and faith,' then yes, it is a religion.  If that belief in aliens affects their philosophical and moral ideals, then yes, it is a religion.

You do realize that a large number of scientists who accept evolution are Christian, right?

Are you suggesting that evolution is their religion?

They would tell you otherwise and can make the distinction you do not.
Accepting Evolution as a well supported mainstream scientific theory does not mean that you do not believe in God.

Accepting Evolution as a well supported mainstream scientific theory is not done base on faith.

Evolution is not a religion. It is not accepted on faith.

I choose to accept the fact that the sun is made of hydrogen because that is a consensus of moderm mainstream science based on facts and evidence that supports that theory.

I choose to accept the fact of evolution because that is a consensus of modern mainstream science based on facts and evidence that supports that theory.

Do I have a "belief" or "faith" that the sun is made of hydrogen? Is that now my religion?

How foolish can you get.

You said it was the reason you STARTED losing faith...not THE reason, but the start of it.

LOOK at the whole post DUH!!!!!

I became an atheist about 5 years ago. That's when I started getting into physics and the more I learned about physics and evolution. And when learned about all the evidence for evolution I started losing my faith in the bible and god, but there was alot more stuff but I am not going to go into. And I started wanting to know how the air and stars and universe was made and since there was no evidence backing up the bibles verison of the birth of the universe, I left christianity and all religions.

I became an atheist first. When I became a atheist I didn't even know much at all about evolution or science.

See that's where you get it all wrong. Evolution doesn't affect our morals.

Yeah it is what I said

I became an atheist then about 5 years a later starting learning science.

Later after I became an atheist evolution THEORY, and physics cause the evidence doesn't match the bible and that’s when I completely gave up all religion. Evolution or science didn't have anything to do with me leaving Christianity it was all based on stuff in my life.

Maybe, maybe not.

Accepting Evolution as a well supported mainstream scientific theory does not mean that you do not believe in God.

I would suggest that evolution and doctrinal Biblical teachings are not compatible.

Evolution is not a religion. It is not accepted on faith.

It is for some people, even Christians.

Let's not switch the issue in the middle of an argument.  Does anyone dispute this?

Maybe the consensus really isn't there.  Maybe the consensus is there because the evolutionists don't let anybody else have a say.

I'm not foolish enough to let you get away with confusing the issue.

To suggest that evolution and Biblical doctrine is not compatible is to create a stumbling block for your fellow believers, who may find the evidence for evolution compelling.

If you force people to choose between truth and faith, they may choose truth. Don't create that wedge.

If I am pointing out the obvious inconsistencies between the 2 theories, I am only 'speaking the truth in love'.

A faith not based on a search for the truth is foolish indeed and needs to be exposed.

From Merriam Webster's dictionary.

Main Entry: re·li·gion

1 a : the state of a religious b (1) : the service and worship of God or the supernatural (2) : commitment or devotion to religious faith or observance
2 : a personal set or institutionalized system of religious attitudes, beliefs, and practices
3 archaic : scrupulous conformity : CONSCIENTIOUSNESS
4 : a cause, principle, or system of beliefs held to with ardor and faith

Using the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th definitions, Evolution can be viewed as a religion.  Plus, Evolutionists will try to extract philosophical and moral ideals from Evolution, so it is a religion in that sense too.

Using the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th definitions, Democracy, High School, and Rap Music can also be viewed as "religions."
