  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Do you talk out loud while you write?

I do. Really. Here are some very well thought-out reasons:

1) learning remains with you if more than one sense is involved -- hence, for me, keyboarding (better than pen/pencil for me because I type fast) = tactile & visual, & talking = both oral (mouth) and auditory (hearing myself) senses. Consequently, I'm more focused.

2) I've done some public speaking, and sometimes you "practice" spilling things rapidly from your brain to your mouth to keep your brain moving.

3) If I talk what I'm writing, or read it aloud, I often discover that the sentence does not "read" well -- too long without breathing, for instance, which would eliminate it from school or book-club read-aloud use. I know then that I need to recraft to make it less awkward.

4) When I write humor, my mouth just "tries it out" and I start laughing. (It's a shame that others don't always find me as funny as I find myself.)

5) I shun silence. Besides, my dogs like to know what I'm thinking. cb
