If you have committed sins that are serious criminal offenses, even if they were years ago...would you still have to account for those sins if you have asked God for forgiveness?

The Bible says that God forgets them the moment you ask him to forgive you, but does that mean you are free from the wages of those sins in this world?

Yeah but can you truly be free unless you account for your crimes?

If I did something many years ago that if caught would have put me in prison for a very long time, how can I be a christian and walk with God if I have never paid for what i did?

Does there have to be a payment for the sin in this world even if God has forgiven me?

Christ paid for all our sins. What is often missing is forgiveness for ourselves. To my way of thinking this represents the 'condemnation of sin'. If you can't forgive yourself, after seeking God's forgiveness, you are still allowing yourself to be bound by sin by giving greater credence to the flesh than the spirit. Your flesh tells you that it's necessary for you to pay a 'carnal price'.

Rom 8:10 And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
Rom 8:11 But if the Spirit of him who made Jesus come again from the dead is in you, he who made Christ Jesus come again from the dead will in the same way, through his Spirit which is in you, give life to your bodies which now are under the power of death.
Rom 8:12 So then, my brothers, we are in debt, not to the flesh to be living in the way of the flesh:
Rom 8:13 For if you go in the way of the flesh, death will come on you; but if by the Spirit you put to death the works of the body, you will have life.
Rom 8:14 And all those who are guided by the Spirit of God are sons of God.

Hi Asrias,

I agree with Mustaphile. If you're a Christian, Jesus paid your sin debt in full.

However, if you committed a crime, such as murder, and had gotten away with it, but then accepted Christ, I think you should turn yourself in. Not saying this is the case with you, just hypothetically.

But lets say you stole a candy bar when you were young, or something like that, then I would say you're forgiven and don't need to confess this sin to authorities for punishment.

Does this make sense?:holy:

it says somewhere in the Bible, i forget where, If you confess your sind He is faithful and just and will forgive your sins and clense you from all unrighteousness.

the Bible also says that if we have accepted Christ we shall not come into judgement but have passed from death into life. there are different interpritations of this verse. some people say that it means when you get to heaven, you we go straight in and God will have forgotten all of your sins. other people, like my parents and my pastor still say that when you get to heaven God will play all your sins before you. i dont know which one i believe but i do know this:God will forgive you and let you into heaven no matter what you have done, before or after you became a Christian, because Jesus already paid the blood price that is required for forgiveness

I would have to say yes you do have to pay for your sins if you out and have sex and get AIDs then you have to live with that:( if you have sex and end up haveing a baby you live with that you can ask God to for give you by praying to him:prayer: . But I think yes you do live with your sins but some time's God is like I won't let that happen to them so he does every thing to stop that form happening to you.:holy:

1 John 1:9

Yeah, once God has forgiven you, you're off the hook. He is the highest authority - the authorities have their authority because He allows it. So technically speaking, a Christian forgiven of murder doesn't have to pay for it anymore. However, if a murderer converted on death row, I don't think the authorities should let them go. Anyone can claim conversion to get out of punishment. If they're really saved, good. They'll go to Heaven, which is doing them a service.

No Asrias, you don't need to pay for your sins if you have sincerely confessed, repented and asked forgiveness from Lord Jesus Christ and if you have asked Him to wash you in His Precious Blood and if you have decided to never fall into sin again. God sees you as if you have never sinned in the past. God sees you as a pure being and rejoices in you.

But sadly the world does not see us as God sees us. And the world does not think about us as God thinks about us. So, if the sin is murder, then, it is seriously advisable to seek the Lord and ask Him what you should do, whether hand over yourself to the Police or just get on with living for Him. Suppose, if the sin is owing money to someone, then, you probably have to give back the money to him/her and apologize for the delay. If possible it is always good to apologize and seek pardon from the human being whom we have hurt. God would love that too. But, we should also see that our apologizing/restitution does not trouble the person further. Just my opinion.

Lord Bless You and Yours
Vincent :)
