I prefer traditional songs that have been sung for decades. Like "leaning on the everlasting arms" for example. But im open to anything.
I don't have a preference for 'old' songs - some old songs are nice, but so are many new songs that appear as time goes by. Remember any old song was once new when it was written. The lyrics have to be true, healthy and uplifting of course, but musical style changes with time. I'm not tied to the past for that per se.

E.g. some of the Psalms call for us to dance of joy - none of the hymns I know are suitable for that.

The danger of sticking to anything old is that we may be stuck in the illusion that anything from the past is just better while in reality we've just become set in our ways and inflexible and can't think fresh out of the box anymore.

E.g. I noticed many people remain fans of the music styles they were loved in in their teenage + twenties years. Of course that's psychology playing up. The same effect may also play a role for Christian songs.

I like the modern 'The Blessing' song - the lyrics are fully Biblical and thousands of years old; the music is contemporary.

I make up my own. I don't have a good voice but sometimes I just spontaneously sing my songs

Dear Lord, Thank You for the rocks and trees and flowers
Thank You for fresh air
Thank You for the hours
I've spent within Your care
Thank You for the ones You gave to me to love
Thank You for all I have to share
Thank You kindly, Beloved Lord above

That is the one I am singing today. I make them up as I go along.
Simple but it comforts me to sing along to my own songs

I find it hard to worship singing many of the tiresome repetitive lyrics of modern praise choruses.
In my city Big AL's is a secular coffee shop that plays organ and piano tunes of old time hymns.
I love to listen to them as I drink my 20 ounce, 4 shot mocha with chocloate.
