I don't care if its truth that christmas is pagan, i celebrate Jesus birthday that is my intention and to pass a nice moment with the whole family, that doesn't contaminate in the slighest, not also that stopping celebrating christmas is going to make me any more holy or clean than celebrating it,
this sound like a 'christian conspiracy theory' though, that somehow you are getting involved with the pagan god of the sun for celebrating christmas? what now?

Umm... he literally said that he wasn't born on the 25th in what you quoted.

What he said was, "The fact is that Christ was born, and we celebrate that on Christmas. If we want to adamantly say it was not on Christmas, well, it was not. It was far more likely closer to Sukkot, in the fall."

Yes, my point was why should we celebrate the birth of JESUS on the birth of the pagan Sun god Mithras? (see post # 4) when there is no biblical direction to do so and if this is not the birthday of Jesus who's day are we celebrating?

Pick a day then. I personally don't give Mithras any credence, and I don't think any Christian has for nearly a millennium. The fact is that the date of the holiday is entirely divorced from any pagan date that it was chosen on. There may have been a nefarious reason at first, but that is not the case any longer and hasn't been for centuries.

If we are going to start comparing Jesus and Christian/Jewish religious practices and beliefs to pagan beliefs we are going to start down a rabbit hole that this thread was not meant for.

The historical references provided in post # 4 (only a few of many) disagree with you. It is not a Rabbit hole in my view only a discussion in the truth. According to the scriptures BABYLON (the Church) has fallen. God is calling us out from following man-made teachings and traditions to worship Him in Spirit and in truth *Revelation 18:1-5; John 4:23-24

That is when it was decided that we would celebrate His birth. Any day of the year there is some pagan something or another. So, does it really matter?

I disagree with you, your references, and the conclusion that they come to. But I still respect your decision to not celebrate on that day, if you have chosen a day at all.

As I said, I agree it may have been picked because it was on the same date, but no Christian worships Mithras or cares about that at this point.

Again, it is out of the scope of this thread to compare Christian-Pagan similarities or borrows. You and I both know they go far beyond this topic.

I don't expect he would disapprove of us giving each other worldly gifts or telling our children harmless fictional stories though. The only thing I can say for sure that
He wants is for us to love God and love our neighbor. Is telling a child a fictional story unloving? If so, then we better repent and seek forgiveness. If not, then we better repent and seek forgiveness only for the all the many other things we are guilty of.

One of the councils decided it and as I said, there is something to some Pagan God pretty much every day.

All I know is I don't celebrate Mithras on Christmas.

You of course are free to believe as you wish. I only provided the Historical references to the ancient origins of December 25th and how this date has nothing to do with the birth of JESUS. Precisely, that is my point. Someone decided we celebrate the birth of JESUS on the pagan holiday of the birthday of the pagan sun god Mithras which is not biblical. There is not pagan holidays everyday of the year. That is simply not true. I am glad you do not celebrate Mithras, though December 25th is a pagan holiday not the birth of Jesus.

In christmas we tell people happy christmas or "feliz navidad" in my language, that means
'Happy birth of Jesus'. That unbelievers tell this to other people i find it awesome, not bad.

For me it is all about what you do on the day and why you do it. This is a good example of making a bad thing good. Thanks for sharing this
