do you guys ever listen to adele? Man, her songs can be very overwhelming. her songs remind me of when i lost a friend or something in my own life, due to failure to maintain that friendship.

sometimes when i pray, bad thoughts would come in and usually it's the music that i've listened to over and over. i just wish I didn't get caught up in it all.

do you guys like her or not? how come?

Everyone has felt sorrow and pain, which is why everyone can empathize with well-communicated sorrow and pain. And Adele does communicate well.

That's why we have to pay heed to the Phlippian Prescription on what we feed our minds.

There is an extra-biblical parable about an American Indian Christian who spoke of having a dream at the end of each week in which a black dog and a white dog were fighting. Someone asked him, "Which dog wins?" he answered: "The dog I fed that week."

Good music always gets overplayed, so it's inevitable that people get tired of it, but "Set Fire to the Rain" is still my favourite song. I think I'm a sucker for the "strong" girls. Pat Benatar, Kelly Clarkson, etc.

The trick is to see which songs are still catching some air time a decade or two later.

I heard the Bond theme when I went to see the movie, but that's it for me. To me (and I'm no expert), she seems to pretty much be a 'flavor of the month' type thing, but I could be completely off base. Time, and a few more albums will tell if she has the wherewithall to make a lasting imprint.

Rumour has it that doing bond themes spells the end of a career. Duran Duran, Sheena Easton, Garbage, Tina Turner, Cheryl Crowe, etc. No hits released after doing Bond. They call it "the curse of James Bond".

Well, "no" on Tina Turner and Cheryl Crowe. They had later hits and are still performing (although, frankly, Tina's age is showing in her live performances--she's older than I am, and I remember Eisenhower).

Duran Duran and Sheena Easton just fell by the wayside like most artists do--most of the popular artists get just a decade and they're gone.

Not really a fan. Catchy songs but bit overwhelming for me. I get there's sorrow, but sounds like she's having a pity party.

I agree. I think she writes effective lyrics and delivers them effectively--but there isn't a light at the end of her tunnel.

To some degree, she's kind of like a female Sting in the emotional content of her work (and even how she sings it)...maybe she will grow over time as he did.
