Do You "Know" A Person Of Another Race?

Do you know someone of another race?

  • I stick to my own race because that's what's comfortable for me.

  • I stick to my own race because I don't really have chances to interact with other races.

  • I know people of other races casually, I smile or say hello, but not in depth.

  • I know people of other races in depth, we're friends, family, or co-workers.

  • I'd like to know more people of other races if I had the chance.

  • I'm not interested in knowing more people of other races.

  • This thread is too serious. Let's have a disco ice cream party!

I think there is probably something to the culture thing for many people. Most people tend to stick to what is familiar/comfortable. Language is also a factor. Obviously there are exceptions.

I definitely think this is a factor. Everything from mannerisms to food to clothing to music to hairstyles can vary from one culture to another, even those living side by side. People have a choice to stick with what's familiar or reach out to someone who seems a little different. Not saying one way is wrong or right, either. I have no problem with someone who is more comfortable around "their own people" as long as it's not fueled by hate or prejudice or false notions.

At least in the United States isn't there so much racial and ethnic diversity that it would be hard to avoid people who aren't of the same race or ethnicity as yourself?

IMHO, in the majority of the US, yes, this applies. Some people will say otherwise, though. That's one reason I posted that map earlier. It speaks for itself. I couldn't find a single area that was solely and exclusively one race ONLY. I think some people who are a little older here on CF might have grown up during a time when things were different than they are now. This current generation is definitely living in a whole new era, if you ask me.

A movie a can't resist watching when shown of television. The Bee Gees distal is a masterpiece.

Johnny T. was star bound, along with his role on Welcome Back Kotter.

Look at Tom hanks. From Boosom buddies to Oscar recipient.

OK, I voted. I hate polls, particularly on my phone. Thanks for setting me straight.

No problem, it's tough sometimes with the limit on words when you're doing a poll. You want to keep it short, but make it clear...meh.
