Windmill said:oh no! We don't do that'least I don't do that! Its impossible to keep the sabbath and do that! ^^ You see, you have to focus on God to keep the sabbath, therefore... one must be focused on God to keep it... Hebrews 8:10For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
Windmill said:bah, going to church doesn't mean they are keeping the sabbath! If they start thinking of unholy things, then yes... if they just naturally fall asleep... then no
Windmill said:Most likely they will stumble (as I do, HEAPS) throughout the day, and of course, trangress the law. At that point in time, no, in my opinion, they are not keeping the sabbath commadment.
I appreciate that but you could end up advocating that we stay home on the Sabbath. All of these things you are trying to avoid can cross your path as you drive along the highways.PaleHorse said:I've never known some to sin while praying or reading the Bible. True, sometimes thoughts stray, but we ask forgiveness and get our mind back on Christ. Since Sabbath is a time to focus on Him even more than we do during the rest of the week, we must be especially careful and keep ourselves focused properly.
For instance, during the week I may be worrying about bills and other money-issues. But on Sabbath I don't check my mailbox (even though mail gets delivered) because there might be a bill or some other letter in there that may take my thoughts away from Him. Bills can wait until Monday, the next business day. Also, I don't even look at my checkbook - my focus is on Christ and the scriptures. If I'm not watching secular television than I reduce the possible influence of sex and violence that is so prevalent on TV on my thoughts. If I stray I confess, repent, and continue with my Sabbath keeping.
I am assuming that you are speaking of the first and last days of the week. Because Adventists (that abbreviation again) usually celebrate the Lord's Supper during regular worship services the breaking of bread usually occurs on the Sabbath -- the last day of the week. However, there are occasional celebrations on other days, e.g. to mark the end of one year and the beginning of the next. That celebration could fall on any day of the week.QuantaCura said:Hi all. I hope you all don't me venturing into your forumI have a few questions(forgive me for whatever ignorance I may display ):
Do SDA's celebrate the "breaking of the bread" on the first day as well as keeping the Sabbath on the last day? Do you just do the "breaking of the bread" on the last day as well? Or does it even matter what day it's done? Is it even part of SDA worship?
