Surely confession of sins without forsaking sin is no good. I believe confessing or repenting of one's sins (i.e. asking Jesus to forgive you of your sins) is followed by forsaking sin and obeying God's commands in the New Testament. If we are not obeying, then we are showing that are repentance was not genuine.
I have question.
After you are supposedly saved what if you sin and forget to repent or ask for forgiveness and/or change behaviors and you die suddenly is your salvation lost? Or do we have to anxiously be always searching out what sins we did and ask for forgiveness? I understand if we do wrong we should strive to be obediant out of love but non of us are God and perfect so I am truly trying to understand what happens if one sins and I notice many Christians do sin daily and you miss or forget or dont even realize you sinned and die, does Jesus sacrifice and perfectness not cover that? Thanks.
As a Christian, the Holy Spirit of God lives in your heart and seals your heart as a purchased possession of the Lord Jesus Christ. No combination of powers can break the seal of the Holy Spirit. Salvation is not on the installment payment plan. You're either saved or you're not, regardless of whether you sought forgiveness for your last sin or not. The work of Salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ on the Cross is perfect and complete.
The whole point of all the dire warnings in the NT is thatAs a Christian, the Holy Spirit of God lives in your heart and seals your heart as a purchased possession of the Lord Jesus Christ.
I wish when people talk about God they would use His Word to explain their theology instead of relating it to a relationship between mankind and mankind as examples. You keep sinning throughout your life, so obviously you have to keep repenting and confessing and being forgiven throughout your life. If I hurt you today, and apologize, does that mean I don't have to apologize if I hurt you again next month? If I repent today of the signs I have committed before today, does that mean I don't have to repent of sins I commit after today?
So what you are saying is that God, perfect and holy, is trying to fool us with some "fine print" on the guarantee He gives us of the Holy Spirit? In fact, what is a guarantee?
Guarantee receipts normally have conditions which you can normally read in the ”fine print”. If you get a guarantee receipt for a certain product and you would like to make a claim, the store might request that you bring both the product and the receipt with you before they are willing to look at your claim. They might also request that you do this within a certain time frame and that you state what’s wrong with the product. Another example could be if someone buys you a bus ticket which guarantees you to get to a certain city PROVIDED that 1) you don’t throw away your ticket, 2) that you embark the right bus on the right time, and 3) that you STAY ON the bus until it arrives at the city. The BUS will arrive at the city as promised, but the question is if YOU will choose to be among the bus passengers.
So what you are saying is that God, perfect and holy, is trying to fool us with some "fine print" on the guarantee He gives us of the Holy Spirit?
Your God must be very different from the God I know.
I wish you would get away from these odd explanations of who God is based upon sinful mankinds marketing and sales practices.
If God becomes sinful and a swindler, I will go back and look at your examples again.
You are not doing God any favors by misrepresenting his Holy nature as a sinful one. Trying to convince or change someone's mind shouldn't take on an incorrect theology to do so
Here's a simple Scripture that speaks volumes:
(Romans 6:23 [KJV]) For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Faith Not Works
Romans 3:19-28 Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. 20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. 21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; 22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: 23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; 26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. 27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. 28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
Faith Righteousness
The Ministry of the Apostle Paul was difficult because the Jews had only known the Law of Moses, and most of them didn't know or understand the difference between works under the Law and works as appreciation to GOD. Circumcision was an act under the Law of Moses, and that's why the Jews were known as the Circumcision in the Holy Bible.
As a contrast, the Gentiles had been viewed as unclean and unfit to share in the Holy Things of GOD, and the Gentiles were known as the Uncircumcision. JESUS CHRIST changed all of this. We must keep in mind that no man was ever able to keep all of the Law, Jew or not, and that's why GOD'S WORD speaks of JESUS CHRIST fulfilling all of the Law most perfectly. Why? HE was GOD made manifest in the flesh and the ONLY one who was ever able to keep all of the Law in perfection and holiness. For the same reason, HE was the only PERFECT AND HOLY ONE able to make a ONCE FOR ALL PERFECT SACRIFICE, one that would be completely Pleasing and Acceptable to GOD the FATHER Forever. GOD was never happy or satisfied with the sacrifices and burnt offerings of men for their sins, but GOD was completely Pleased with the PERFECT SACRIFICE OF CHRIST ON THE CROSS.
Romans 4:1-25 What then shall we say that Abraham, our forefather, hath found according to the flesh? 2 For if Abraham was justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not toward God. 3 For what saith the scripture? And Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned unto him for righteousness. 4 Now to him that worketh, the reward is not reckoned as of grace, but as of debt. 5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is reckoned for righteousness. 6 Even as David also pronounceth blessing upon the man, unto whom God reckoneth righteousness apart from works, 7 saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, And whose sins are covered. 8 Blessed is the man to whom, the Lord will not reckon sin. 9 Is this blessing then pronounced upon the circumcision, or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say, To Abraham his faith was reckoned for righteousness. 10 How then was it reckoned? when he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision: 11 and he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had while he was in uncircumcision; that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be in uncircumcision, that righteousness might be reckoned unto them; 12 and the father of circumcision to them who not only are of the circumcision, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham which he had in uncircumcision. 13 For not through the law was the promise to Abraham or to his seed that he should be heir of the world, but through the righteousness of faith. 14 For if they that are of the law are heirs, faith is made void, and the promise is made of none effect: 15 for the law worketh wrath; but where there is no law, neither is there transgression. 16 For this cause it is of faith, that it may be according to grace; to the end that the promise may be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all 17 (as it is written, A father of many nations have I made thee) before him whom he believed, even God, who giveth life to the dead, and calleth the things that are not, as though they were. 18 Who in hope believed against hope, to the end that he might become a father of many nations, according to that which had been spoken, So shall thy seed be. 19 And without being weakened in faith he considered his own body now as good as dead (he being about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah's womb; 20 yet, looking unto the promise of God, he wavered not through unbelief, but waxed strong through faith, giving glory to God, 21 and being fully assured that what he had promised, he was able also to perform. 22 Wherefore also it was reckoned unto him for righteousness. 23 Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was reckoned unto him; 24 but for our sake also, unto whom it shall be reckoned, who believe on him that raised Jesus our Lord from the dead, 25 who was delivered up for our trespasses, and was raised for our justification.
No man has ever been saved by the Law, mainly because no man has been able to keep it. A lot of confusion could be avoided if people could realize that many things changed at the Cross. There is a big difference between living under the Law and under Grace. Many people tried to continue living under the Law after the Cross, and they were lost. It's also true that no man has ever been saved by works.
You must rightly divide the Holy Bible if you ever want to understand it. There is a big difference between Scripture for and to Jews and Scripture for and to Gentiles. Good luck if you want to live under the Law. Put the Scripture in context to see who and to it is written. I'm saved by Grace through Faith, and I'm saved for eternity. This is not because of anything I deserve, rather what our Lord Jesus Christ did at the Cross, God's Grace in offering me a wonderful gift, and my Faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.
Real Salvation under Grace through Faith is not on and off again. You can only be saved once. I was baptized into the Body of Christ by the Holy Spirit of God, and He has sealed my heart as a purchased possession of our Lord Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit Himself is a seal on my heart that can't be broken. Regardless of what you believe, you can't be Saved today and lost tomorrow. You're very confused if that's what you believe. Start by going to the Cross and understanding what happened there. I have Eternal Life because I'm Saved and relying on the promises of God. For those who believe differently, at what point does Eternal Life become a reality?
