  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Do you have any "mouse guns"?

What is a mouse gun?

Something like these might have been carried and used by certain people for protection or for loosing their money playing a game of cards. From what I understand these mini guns were not reliable nor effective even at close range.

Another name for them is "parlor pistol"

Really? Even at very close range?

That's a shame.

Not if you're the mouse with the thing pointing at you.
In that case it is a very happy thing.

That's what I gathered from Rick on an episode of Pawn Stars when a person brought in a parlor pistol and they went into a bit of history on them. Saloon ladies sometimes carried them too. Maybe depending on the model and the condition of the ballistics or powder used, would do some damage at very close range, but keep in mind these were small, and the load of the discharge would be proportionate to the size of the gun, and free aiming isn't like a scope and bench at a range with a high powered rifle.

Do you have any "mouse guns" or pocket pistols? What kind? What do you think of them?
Too small for taking down a raging elephant.

I know several ladies who do or did carry them before concealed carry was legal - or in states where it still isn't.

If someone's close enough to touch, I'm sure it would do some damage, but not enough to be a reliable self-defense weapon. Better than teeth and fingernails, though.
