that would be so much fun.We had a "flirting" thread on another singles forum I used to post on. It developed a life of its own and led to like 2 million posts over 3 years.
One day, one of the gals suddenly says "wouldn't it be cool if we could all meet in real life?"
Well, one thing led to another and I helped organize a real life get together. 12 people fromacross the US and Canada on Labour Day weekend. Rented a huge, 5-bedroom, 19th century house in Pennsylvania. That weekend eventually spawned three marriages, all of which are still together.
Hmmmmm........that would be so much fun.

Actually, it WAS a lot of fun. We (the organizers) were worried that no one would know what to do at first, so we brought a couple of board games to serve as icebreakers. Well, the first guest arrived at 5:30 on Friday and others came soon afterward. We yacked and yacked until about 4 in the morning. It was like we had known each other all of our lives. We ranged from like 23 to mid 40s.
Saturday, we split up into two groups. One group went to a football game and the other group went to an underground bat cave. Saturday night we hung out at the house and three of the gals fixed a great dinner and we watched videos, played games and did a mini campfire at a fire ring in the back yard (it was a fairly rural area). We had speaker phone and a couple of other members of the group who weren't able to attend called and we did a conference call.
Sunday, we all visited a small local church and then went to an amusement park to a Rebecca St. James concert in a nearby town. One of the gals had a birthday, so we threw a birthday party, complete with a cake. Only problem was when G*** blew out her candles she did so directly into the hair of her best friend sitting across the patio table and T****'s hair caught on fire (not serious, thankfully). Then we stayed up till sunrise yacking some more.
Monday was goodbye time and no one wanted to leave. As mentioned, three of the couples later got married.

Well, ok, this guy broke up with his girlfriend during Christmas. So he's been single for a month. It's getting close to Valentine's Day, as we all know, so he post a bulletin on myspace that says:Ok, girl -- DISH!
who wants to be my valentine just send me a message of what we will do on that special day. send in a message
I have yet to hear back from him...Ah, yes, I too feel this desperation*. Even though couples secretly hate this day, singles wish there was someone, anyone, to hate it with.
With that said, I've read your proposal and offer you this bid. Seeing as we are poor college students, I propose that one of us shows up at the others house and go to a nearby fast food place and talk/commiserate about our issues (being single, coming from dysfunctional families, etc. or, heck, maybe something cheerful. However, that (cheerful topics) is quite a risky thing to attempt...)
Last year, I had a great Valentine's Day. I got flowers, chocolate, and even clothes. But, here I am, in a town where no one really knows me. So, really, receiving anything would be a great surprise...
*Of course, I assume that the reason you post this rather intriguing bulletin is that you feel that there is a paradox in being alone on Valentine's Day. In reality, you probably think this is just a fun little gag to see what people will say. However, I have no way of reading your mind so I will stick with my interpretation and you can tell me the next time you get into the car that I take things too seriously (which is quite true and I wouldn't be offended at all if you said that).
You don't think I scared him off, do you? My response was rather bleak... Oh well, it's been a rough week for the both of us and our friends...
