  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Well, these are my thoughts on them. They can be helpful to a certain extent because to see the things that you desire in someone else (even feeling excited to interact with someone who possesses the qualities you're looking for) can offer you hope if you don't find those combinations everyday. Sometimes, what you're looking for is not so easily accessible. It can encourage you: yes, such people DO exist. And sometimes, though rarely, these can develop into actual relationships.

Yet, other times, by having those interests in people who are merely online and nothing more might stunt a person who otherwise might suffer in regard to real-life interactions (or social skills). It is too easy for things to be blown way out of proportion, misunderstandings to occur, etc.. By not having someone physically in front of you can alter the way that you treat them and they, you. Feelings can be unneccesarily hurt. I've seen young ones who encouraged their families to go on family vacations, centering around meeting someone they've interacted with online. I won't lie and say that I've never considered meeting a few people here and there (a CF reunion from '05/'06 is something I would definitely love to see happen, but that isn't even remotely realistic). But, sometimes, you just have to accept that online crushes are merely that. Crushes. And some of them can never go further than that.

*just as real-life ones don't always go further

That is exactly why I doubt your crush is from CF. I very much doubt you would be able to say you don't see him too often.
