Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Do you ever miss it?

The longer I've been away from school, the more and more I miss it!

The campus, the hang-outs, the people, the dorm life, the friends, the study parties (where there's hardly ever actual studying!) the late night trips to the local 24 hr restarurant/diner, the class times where I actually enjoy learning something of value, the weekend trips to a local park, the afternoon walks with no particular destination, the involvment in whatever activities, the occasional concert/guest speaker from well known folks, the Chapel hour where the entire student body goes to "church" together.........:sigh: the list goes on!

I'm practially counting down the days til I go back. I never dreamed how much I would love going to college, but I guess it's everything that goes along with it that I love so much. It's really true that the friends you make in college will be some of your closest.

I don't miss the dorms at all. I value my privacy (and peace and quiet) far too much. I do miss not having to worry about letting my parents know what time I will be getting home though. :)
I actually miss going to classes, too. I enjoy those quite a bit. :)

I'm taking an online college program... it's not the same. I definitely miss certain things, but I am doing much better doing it this way! I have some learning disabilities, and Asperger's Syndrome...

I'm glad to hear you've found something that works for you...sometimes folks with physical/health problems just give up and don't try anything!

Is Asperger's syndrome an onset condition?....does it go away? (I hope you don't mind me asking....I plan to go to medical school one day so this caught my attention! :))

:D I was the same way for awhile! Of course the freshman guy's dorm I was in was the oldest and dirtiest of them all...and we had a communal bathroom (shared by at least 30 other guys!)....things got...

And I definitely don't miss my attempts at a nap ruined by blasts of the most God-awful music in all creation...

But when I say "dorm life" I mean the availibility of all my friends. Life is fun when your best friends are only a few doors down or a short walk across campus...instead of hundreds of miles away for the summer.

:)

I had it all my life but didn't know until I was 21, and it doesn't go away. It's sort of like high functioning autism.

This time away from college is killing me! My parents are driving me nuts and I definitely miss all of my college friends and fraternity brothers.

Privacy is fine, but I value my freedom more, and I have no freedom at home.

You must've had a life.

I don't miss college. In fact, I could use another month before going back.

It's just good to know that I'm not the only one out there who goes nuts by not being in school!

I've only been living in this area for a year and a half. So my entire social life outside of family is church and school. I miss my friends from college...

But classes start back up in 2 weeks! WOOT! I can't wait! :D:D:D

I went to summer school, so I didn't miss anything. But I'm already anxiously awaiting my classes. It's sort of boring when you're not in school. I commute though, so I care little for that stuff. The summer is actually when friends appear.

I'm about to start my final semester and, in all honesty, I'm ready to be done. I lived on campus for a couple of years and really didn't enjoy it at all. I don't really fit in with anyone my age and I'm kind of awkward in social situations, so I think people tend to just ignore me. I'm sure the working world won't be much better but I feel kind of let down by the whole college experience. It hasn't been as fun for me as it seems to be for a lot of other people.

Oh well, you can't win them all.;)

My college was small and close to home, so I've never had a "dorm experience." (I did get an apartment with friends my second-last years, which was...well, it made me happier to be where I am now). Truthfully, since it was such a small school (4000 is on the smallish side I'd argue), everyone knew me and I knew everyone, I had many acquaintances, and the classes were small and intimate (at least in my major). But I just couldn't wait to get out of there and be done with the whole thing. I graduated this last April and have not looked back.

As far as what made college awesome--I've still got those things, except for the awesome mountain college town I left behind.

I think because I’m a non-traditional student I don’t miss college all that much when I’m away. And what I do miss most of the younger crowd doesn’t. Over the summer I don’t miss the hang-outs and parties and stuff (not that I’m saying any of that is bad) and I certainly don’t miss writing papers all night. But I do miss hearing really good lectures about subjects that interest me.

Oh I definitely miss uni. I've been away for a year doing an industrial placement as part of my degree and I miss the area, my church, friends and life so much. They were other people my age at work, and we had a good social life, but the freedom afforded by only having 9hours of lecture time is sorely missed. Random pancake parties, movie marathons, popping to the pub for a quick (soft) drink in the afternoon and staying till closing time nattering and playing pool. 2 weeks till I see my friends again, 3 till I move back and in 4 weeks the difficult final year starts! :)

I kind of missed out college life in the traditional sense, as I went to a community college for my first two years, and then commuted to a university for my last two years. BUT, for my last semester, I studied abroad in Japan, and wow. Living on campus and all that was a complete blast! I kind of wish that I would have done so when I was going to uni in the States, but I have no real regrets. All of my friends lived in the same city as me, so it's not like I couldn't hang out with them.

But yeah.I even miss the classes and the whole learning aspect of it all. That's why I'm currently looking into graduate schools and the like. I'm working right now, and it's just not as fun as being a student. Such carefree times.
