  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Do you ever "binge" watch?

Just curious if you ever watch TV or DVDs in long stretches, like for hours at a time?

I checked out the series "House" from the library and found myself watching all four episodes last night. Tonight I've watched two more episodes so far. Might just keep on going.

I was wondering if there's any relationships between how you feel (stressed, for example) and whether you "binge" TV watch?

For me, work's been pretty overwhelming, so I think I'm trying to escape a bit. Admittedly, four episodes is quite a few hours!

Yeah, I do, too.
This winter I was really stressed out.
In order to escape, I watched over 20 hours worth of Pride and Prejudice!
And I read the book twice!

One film version is 2 hours long,
the other is 5 hours long.

I also binge on the computer,
but I'm trying to discipline myself about that.

I do, but not excessively. (kinda a contradiction huh?)

By that I mean, I'll get on this kick for watching movies or shows, but then fall out of them, later like three or four weeks later, I'll get on a kick. I don't watch them one after the other, but I'll watch like 2 or3 movies a day.

I don't do shows.

YES!!!!! P&P. :swoon: That story's good no matter who does it.

...only to excess. :p
LOL! :D

Ya, I know how addictive soaps can get, bill'swife. For me, House is the same way. I'm thinking of jumping on NetFlix so I can stop hunting the DVDs down at various libraries.

Tbird, that makes sense. I'm that way with movie watching (in the theatre). Maybe about a month or two ago, I just HAD to see some movies, so I went three times in one week. But then after that, I was "normal" again and I haven't seen a movie in the theatre since!

We did when we decided to get into Lost....at the end of Season 2!

So, we bought Season 1 on DVD and watched it quite quickly. THEN when Season 2 came out, we bought that and caught ourselves up with about a week or less til the start of Season 3.

Now...the long wait....until January, I think it is.

So, mainly at times like that....did that years ago with another show on video as well.

We've done it with a few series that we started watching years after it started:

LOST
Big Love
Scrubs
South Park (watched all 13??? seasons... though it was over a long period of time LOL)

Needless to say netflix is our best friend :D
