Any grandparents help with the homework of their grandkids?
I have 5 that range from middle school down to grade K.

However--it is the 5th grade projects that I am most often called upon to help.

In fact--Just sent granddaughter #2 out the door with her "Million Dollar" project.
It is hard to spend a million dollars :)

Just wondering is any other grandparents did this--I find it fun and what a great way to exercise the brain and stay current.

I did a lot of homework during school days..I mean seminary etc...When I went to school, we didn't have homework. We did it all in the classroom. We had other chores after school hours such as dishes, floors, bedmaking, laundry and other duties peculiar to a boarding school.

To-day, I think kids get far too much homework and kids are not allowed to be kids.

Cheers,

Jim

Dishes count Jim :) Your right--the amount of homework these kids get is unreal. Not to mention that grade schoolers are learning stuff we didnt here about until high school.

nana--it can be stressful at times. The project I just helped with (spending a million dollars) is one of those. Numbers never adding up the same twice on two calculaters lol.

Its also fun--most of what they come to me for requires some art/creativity and a Computer.
They dont have a computer and these days--kids seem to need one.

If nothing else--it makes for some great memorys!

Oh yes I know where you're coming from!! I have one in 5th. grade and one in 3rd. grade. This year so far the big event was the "Science Fair"!! Lucky Dad was able to help there, Grandma's ideas to "old". But Grandma can help with long division, with 5th grader, and the 3rd. grader loves to read, which I am so pleased about and we do a lot of that together.
Bless

It was the 5th grader who had the "million dollar project" and she will be back this weekend for her book report.

Not only does she have to write a report but she has to create a physical scene from the story. These are my favorite projects to help with.

All 3 girls love to read and like you--I am very happy about that. We are all readers.
I am totally of no help when it comes to math!

I use to be 2000 miles away from the kids--the 3rd girl was 9 months old before I even met her--so I feel really blessed to play an active role.

"Our grandchildren are not really close enough for us to be able to help with homework. We do enjoy doing things with them tho' like their crafts and taking them out whenever we can.:) "

That is all that matters--taking whatever time us grandparents get and making memorys. I think being a grandma is the most fun I have ever had :)
