Everytime my computer does it I just say a little prayer for Bill Gates soul :prayer:

Actually, he give alot more than I do to charities, so I can't really say anything bad about him...
Interesting, but I think I read somewhere that percentagewise, Bill Gates gives a lot less to charity than previous tycoons like Rockefeller. When they compared some of the richest men in US History in terms of their percentage of networth donated to charity, Bill Gates actually came up pretty low in the charts. But at least he does give some. If we all gave some, the world would be a better place.

I've never owned a store bought computer. I've never been happy with their stats either. Although nowadays they seem to be getting better. But I agree that I would never buy one of those bargain computers. People don't know what they're getting. A lot of times they seem fine at first, but then you find out you can't upgrade anything later. And a lot of first time computer owners get them because they think they don't need a more powerful computer. But a lot of them end of getting hooked on computers and then they're disappointed.

My current computer is basically:
CPU: Athlon XP 2500+ (Barton core)
Video: Nvidia GeForce2 MX400
Hard Drive: 80GB + 40GB
CD-RW and CD-ROM (no DVD yet)
Mainboard: Epox 8RDA+ (nForce2)
Memory: 512MB Crucial Low Latency

The only problem with building your own computer these days is that the software is so expensive.

Excellent point. . . unless you're lucky enough to have had your first computer come with a bunch of software that you can use on each successive machine, like me. :D

I generally build my own. It's easy enough to do, and easier to upgrade over time. Although I really have no problem with pre-built machines. In some cases, having a nice, healthy warranty on the system can be a lot easier to deal with than troubleshooting your own components when something goes bad...
