Do you believe that Christ requires us to keep the 7th day holy?
Do you believe that we should not eat meats such as pork, shrimp, frogs, crabs, etc?
I go to a seventh day adventist church and this is what they teach, I wanted to hear some of your opinions about this. Are those of us that don't keep the sabbath day in sin?
Ask God to reveal it to you. You should live according to your conscience. Although personally I don't believe in observing the Sabbath. Sabbath was a symbol which represented salvation in Jesus. And therefore, when Jesus come (who is a fulfillment of the symbol), there is no need to observe symbol anymore. Ask God to show you the truth in the following verses:
Col 2:13 When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, Col 2:14
having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross. ...Col 2:16
Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day.
Col 2:17
These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.
Paul shows that it's ok to do either way: either observe or not observe. What matters is your heart and what you believe. You should live according to what you believe. If you can believe that you don't need to observe it, then you are ok not to observe it. If you believe that you would sin by not observing, then according to your conscience, you need to observe it. But perhaps these words of Paul will show you that it doesn't matter one way or the other:
Rom 14:1 Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters.
Rom 14:2
One man's faith allows him to eat everything, but another man, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables.
Rom 14:3
The man who eats everything must not look down on him who does not, and the man who does not eat everything must not condemn the man who does, for God has accepted him.
Rom 14:4 Who are you to judge someone else's servant? To his own master he stands or falls. And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand.
Rom 14:5 One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind.
Rom 14:6
He who regards one day as special, does so to the Lord. He who eats meat, eats to the Lord, for he gives thanks to God; and he who abstains, does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God.
Rom 14:7 For none of us lives to himself alone and none of us dies to himself alone.
Rom 14:8 If we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.
Rom 14:9 For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life so that he might be the Lord of both the dead and the living.
Col 2:20 Since you died with Christ to the basic principles of this world, why, as though you still belonged to it, do you submit to its rules:
Col 2:21 "
Do not handle! Do not taste! Do not touch!"?
Col 2:22 These are all destined to perish with use, because they are based on human commands and teachings.
Col 2:23 Such regulations indeed have an appearance of wisdom, with their self-imposed worship, their false humility and their harsh treatment of the body, but they lack any value in restraining sensual indulgence.
Paul is talking to those who live under the law and obey its regulations:
Gal 4:9 But now that you know Godor rather are known by Godhow is it that you are turning back to those weak and miserable principles? Do you wish to be enslaved by them all over again?
Gal 4:10 You are observing special days and months and seasons and years!
Gal 4:11 I fear for you, that somehow I have wasted my efforts on you.
Gal 3:1 You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified.
Gal 3:2 I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by observing the law, or by believing what you heard?
Gal 3:3 Are you so foolish? After beginning with the Spirit, are you now trying to attain your goal by human effort?
Gal 3:4 Have you suffered so much for nothingif it really was for nothing?
Gal 3:5 Does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you because you observe the law, or because you believe what you heard?
Gal 3:6 Consider Abraham: "He believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness."
Gal 3:7 Understand, then, that those who believe are children of Abraham.
Gal 3:8 The Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: "All nations will be blessed through you."
Gal 3:9 So those who have faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.
Gal 3:10 All who rely on observing the law are under a curse, for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law."
Gal 3:11 Clearly no one is justified before God by the law, because, "The righteous will live by faith."
Gal 3:12 The law is not based on faith; on the contrary, "The man who does these things will live by them."
Gal 3:13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree."
Gal 3:14 He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.
