Do you believe in "I think, therefore I am"? or..?

Or I believe, therefore my mind makes my belief a reality, (when we die)

In other words if you believe in an afterlife God is fully capable of giving you whatever each individual one believes his "paradise" his afterlife to be, he is capable of making that environment, whatever they can imagine, for each individual one, if they would only "believe" in something, and say "I think, therefore I am...

I had a dream one time of a beautiful city in a universe, and we were standing just outside it's gates, on on the outside were these vines, thousands, possibly millions or billions of them, on on the end of each vine, was a box connected to the vine, so there had to be billions or more of these "Boxes" and I asked, what are these, and he said to me, these are each a universe in and of themselves, so that as far as an individuals imagination may reach, even as far as running their own universe, it may be given to them, then he said but we all reside here, in this universe where the Holy city, and the true God resides so that we might have fellowship with him...

Anyways there was a lot more to the dream, but you get my point God is capable of giving you your own universe to run should you choose to do so, but you will live apart and separated from him (The true God and the Lamb and heaven, and the Holy city, Heavenly Jerusalem)

It was just a dream, but it expanded my horizons of what God was truly capable of giving each individual person...

God Bless!

Nope. I think Descartes got it backwards. It should be "I am therefore I'll think". I don't think that dreams are a valid way of gaining knowledge.

No. What of the person who wishes for something evil. This seems more like some kind of New Age thinking (or maybe Mormonism, or ... it could be a lot of things) other than Christianity. You've placed the emphasis on what you want rather than what God wants.

And I don't see how this relates to Descartes. It seems a lot of people forget the part where Descartes actually begins by doubting everything. It is the fact that he is doubting that establishes he is thinking. And if he is thinking, he exists. I consider it the most brilliant starting point for a philosophy I've ever seen. Things kinda fall apart after that, but even that is an important lesson. If I can't do better than Descartes, and Descartes fails ... well ... not much hope philosophy is going to find the way.

There are two writers who explain what was going on with Descartes before he said this that are worth checking out

One is a Philospopher William Barrett : Death of the Soul : From Descartes to the Computer

- and the other is a Psychiatrist Karl Stern : The Flight from Woman

Both explain what was going on with Descartes before he arrived at his "I think therefore I am." Karl Stern draws on Descartes biographer - Adrien Balliet

The conclusion is hidden in the premise.
For me, it doesn´t go any further than "There´s thought therefore something is."

I don't even go that far. More like, "there's a thought therefore there's a thought (which doesn't necessarily prove anything given this thought could be a dream, connected to a brain machine, etc.)."

NDE (near death experiences) are subjective, in that they relate to a persons faith etc. So therefore the New Age has it part right. In fact a lot of traditional faiths seem to emphasise the necessity of faith at the time of death. Whether the afterlife is objective (real) is another issue.
