Did you read the lines before that Jephunneh?

"This saying is trustworthy: If we have died with him we shall also live with him; if we persevere we shall also reign with him. But if we deny him he will deny us."

And how about a few lines later?

"Remind people of these things and charge them before God to stop disputing about words. This serves no useful purpose since it harms those who listen."

"Be eager to present yourself as acceptable to God, a workman who causes no disgrace, imparting the word of truth without deviation."
AMEN!

Psalms 119 speaks of works and salvation as well.

Love and God Bless.

How about I make this very simple and easy for everyone to understand, so this thread can die a quick death?

When you trust the Lord Jesus to be your personal Savior, and accept Him to be the Lord of your life, you will then......

be compelled to, and want to, do what is good for The Kingdom.  Not our kingdom, but His.  When you're filled with His Holy and gracious Holy Spirit, you can't help but do good.  There may be a road-block, and you may stumble, but you pick yourself up, brush the dust off, and continue.

You continue to do God's work, because it's part of the sanctification process of making you Holy, until you're glorified.

It's so simple, yet people make it so difficult.

I just don't get it.  Go sponser a child through World Vision.  Go serve at a soup kitchen.  Go donate clothes to a battered women's shelter.  Donate your extra money to the needy.  Quit griping and do something.

I guess all the former Christians that were very devout are good to go, huh? Even the ones that are now adamant atheists. After all, they cant help but do good.

Oh wait, I know, they weren't "really" saved, right? Well, they felt the same way you do now. Are you "really" saved?

Yes, that is the problem. Make it so easy and attractive, despite what Jesus and the apostles said about enduring till the end, etc.

In the future, I'd like to remind all to keep an eye on exactly what it is you'd like to say, and how it may come across

Indeed, words to remember blindfaith, even when explaining things in a way that even us stupid people can understand.

;)

Souljah, keep your sarcasm to yourself ~ it's not attractive.

You obviously didn't understand a word I said.  An aethiest is not filled with the Holy Spirit.  Right?  You receive your salvation by your faith and belief in Jesus Christ.  A person without the Holy Spirit cannot work their way to Heaven.  When filled with the Holy Spirit you do good deeds because you want to be a good servant for Jesus.

I'm not sure where the confusion is.

Well, they felt the same way you do now. Are you "really" saved?

Don't question my salvation. I think there are other things for you to concern yourself with.

Make it so easy and attractive, despite what Jesus and the apostles said about enduring till the end, etc.

Did I say the race is easy and simple?  No, I did not.  The whole "concept" of faith, given as a gift by the grace of God, then being compelled to do good works is easy to understand.  But living a godly life isn't easy.  I don't think it's meant to be.

Since the original question has been answered more than sufficiently for many pages and has subsequently developed into disharmony, the thread has been closed. Besides, every member has his own beliefs and many will not be changed by one thread. Let's learn to respect each other's differences and move on.
