  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Do 'White Holes' exist?

I thought this might be interesting -

From i09.com: "Is it possible we've found the first white hole?"
This is the only link I have at the moment. I fear if I type in "white holes" on google I'll end up with interracial pornography.

I know slightly less than nothing about physics, but if white holes do exist could this mean black holes act like 'wormholes' rather than destroying information?

As usual, it's hypothetical (meaning it's scientific) -- but here's the 411:
A white hole, in general relativity, is a hypothetical region of spacetime which cannot be entered from the outside, but from which matter and light may escape. In this sense it is the reverse of a black hole, which can be entered from the outside, but from which nothing, including light, may escape.

My only source, i90.com says:

A gamma ray burst back in 2006 didn't fit with our understanding of where they come from - its long duration (102 seconds) meant that it had to be created in a supernova explosion, and yet there were no supernovas there for it to have come from. Its discoverers actually said that "this is brand new territory; we have no theories to guide us."

This might, just might be one of the first sightings of a white hole. We get the occasional physicist here and I was hoping someone could explore it.

Why do you have your google safe search turned off? I think you would have to type in white ho to get porn on google. But as long as your safe search is turned on then it should not be a problem.

With safesearch that would probably give you a whole bunch of pictures of white gardening tools ;)

Just to expand a bit, a hypothesis is scientific but that doesn't mean it has evidence for it yet. In fact it probably means there isn't much evidence for it yet.

Basically a hypothesis is what creationists think a theory is ;) , its an educated guess. A theory has lots and lots of evidence, a hypothesis doesn't.

White holes are hypothetical objects that are permitted by the theory of general relativity but have no evidence to support their actual existence and probably don't actually exist.

Actually that is the beginning of Science. The Bible says: "there was not a man to till the ground." Science talks about a transition from food gather to food producer. The hoe a very basic and simple tool is an instrumental part of that transition. Esp for irrigation to get water to the plants. So a hoe was something you needed to go out and produce food.
