  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The question is invalid since the Abrahamic covenant blessings were never "transferred" to believing Gentiles. The Bible states that believing Jews and believing Gentiles are co-heirs together. That does not support any kind of "transfer" or "replacement" idea. Acts 10-11 shows that new covenant promises were expanded to include the believing Gentiles. That supports the idea of co-heirs together.

Yes the word "transfer" was a poor choice of words, but the idea remains that those jews seeking justification by keeping the law or the old covenant apart from faith are outside of the blessings of Abraham which is by faith.
Your question does not make sense, because Daniel 7 never says a kingdom was given to the saints. Here is what it says:

Daniel 7:14 He [the Son of Man] was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all peoples, nations and men of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.

Its clearly the Son of Man's kingdom...

As the Angel explains and clarifies vs 14 further in Dan 7:27: And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom [is] an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.

Jesus confirms this happening.
Matt 21:43 Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.

Again, where is the idea written that the kingdom and dominion will once again favor the genetic people or to those seeking world rule by keeping a Talmudically perverted law of the old (abolished) covenant?

This is very good, Matt. 21:43 leaves no doubt about what happens after the time of the gentiles. AFter the time of the gentiles, is the 2nd Coming of Christ.

The notion of a revival of Israel is a self fulfilling prophecy. Christ already has stated that Israel was DESOLATE.

Can anyone answer this for me.

One thing I don't get is that, how can Israel and the Church be seperate when Christ told the disciples to preach his gospel to both gentiles and Israel?

The bible makes it 100 % clear that the disciples were converting JEWS to JESUS.

WHAT exactly has changed after Christ death that is different from TODAY?

Why aren't we as Christians, doing exactly the same thing the disciples did 2000 years ago but instead preaching this new doctrine about not worrying about the Jews, let God deal with them in some future event?

Last i read, the bible doesn't say "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost EXCEPT THE JEWS"

The notion of a revival of Israel is a self fulfilling prophecy. Christ already has stated that Israel was DESOLATE.

Which 'times of the gentiles' are you referring to? There is the times of the gentiles refered to in the Gospels and seems to refer to the same time period of the desolation of Jerusalem. And some refer to the "fullness" of the Gentiles" of Romans 11 as being the same as 'the times of the Gentiles".

I would think that if Paul would have wanted us to think of this as 'the times of the Gentiles" he would have used the word "times" rather than fullness.

For an alternative interpretation of the 'fullness' of the gentiles" that I believe came in beginning with Cornelius. see http://christianforums.com/showpost.php?p=47223619&postcount=4
and if you want to see the Part 1 it is here. http://christianforums.com/showpost.php?p=47210868&postcount=1

Thus, to summarize vs 25, I believe that the fullness of the Gentiles is referring to fullness and riches in Christ that by that time has come upon individuals of all nations (gentiles; same word) after the Gospel was preached in Jerusalem and Judea to the Jews. Part of those remaining Israelites are blinded but are yet elected for saving faith either before their deaths or before the desolation of Jerusalem. Some will be made jealous by this fullness and pouring out of the Holy Spirit upon "them that are not a people" and will (as Pauls hope, confidence and trust is) yet come to believe on Christ. They are not all lost even though they have rejected the Gospel thus far and may be presently persecuting jewish and non jewish believers in Christ JUST AS PAUL did.

So blindness in part having come to Israel "until the fullness of the gentiles (nations) has come in" refers to part of Israel that did not initially believe the preaching in Jerusalem or Judea, were reserved to be "provoked to jealousy" unto salvation by {the fullness of}[them that are] no people, [and] by a foolish nation I will anger you. 10;vs 19. The christian nation is foolishness to the jews, and the cross foolishnes for those who are perishing, but the power of God to those being saved.

It is noted that the word "Gentiles" is the same word as "nations". Using the word "Gentiles" gives an immediate contrasting with "Jews" and "Israel". But I think 'nations' would be a better use within the fact that he is talking of believing ingrafted of all nations.

If there was a difference between Israel and the Church, why was both of them being taught the same thing? what's changed?

There are still some groups that focus on evangelizing jews, but with the advent of dispensationalism and zionism, the church has played it'self as second fiddle to the jews. We are taught that we are a "parenthesis" whithin Gods working with the jews" and as a outlet for Gods love and kingdom that was rejected by the nation of jews. Thus, especially with Rothchilds taking on the name "Israel", many view and promote christians as second class citizens of Gods secondary kingdom.

Again, Daniel 7, the only way that 'theologians' and judaizers can see Daniel 7 as referring to end times Jews is to lift most of Daniel out of history and apart from Christ and apply them to "end of the world" times rather than "end of the age" or "end of the indignation" They put it in the future, thus applying 'saints of the most high" to jews of a future kingdom age, rather than to saints of the son of man... Christ the Creator/Redeemer/the Almighty. The angels explaination that the 4 beasts would be four successive kingdoms upon the face of the earth should indicate that this time period began with Daniels timeperiod and the 4th beast was the Roman empire.

2000 yrs ago, when Christ gave the Great commission, it was to Jewish believers who had the knowledge and history of the promised Messiah. They went to Jerusalem, then Judaea, Samaria and the uttermost parts of the world..... and all nations...

Nowdays, I think for Christians to share with Talmudic/Torah peoples requires alot of knowledge of what they believe and their hopes. There are many different groups and sects among the jews and they believe and want different things. Mostly, through being sewn with the seeds of men and beast, (Jer 31;27) they desire a world rule. To some, their Messiah is the teachings of the Talmud and the Kaballah; a philosophy; a teaching; a plan for self accomplishment. Those already have their "Messiah" in the teaching of the Rabbi's which twist Old testament passages to suit and fit their goals.
They do not recognize that the Old covenant promises have been revoked, canceled, nullified, and are no longer valid.

I'm not very knowledgable about the various groups of Jews, but I think Christ will continue to call jews out of judaism to Himself through his foreknowledge and election.

Again, Romans 11 seems applicable yet today, even though the old covenant is abolished. Provoking jews to jeallousy through displaying the fullness of the Spirit of Christ and by claiming and displaying the blessings of Abraham in Christ through the Holy Spirit seems as the method of evangelism that might be most effective.

As it is now, through the teaching of Zionism, many in the churches are becoming "jealous" of being Israelites or supporting Israel of the political state, thinking that their salvation or better life will happen at a future appearing of the Messiah for the Jews.

But he has already come in the flesh for not only the jews, but all nations, and rose from the dead; proving his dominion of eternal life.

Are we supposed to support Israel? I had a long discussion with someone recently. This all started over the whole Obama news about the pastor of his church saying we are at fault for many things, for several reasons including that we have supported Israel. I think what my problem in this is that I do not know any scripture from the bible to support/not support this fact. Anyone have any suggestions? any verses you know of? thanks!

Hello Desertdancer,

There is no remnant of ancient Israel any more than the country of Macedonia represents the original Greek kingdom. There are no Jews of that era for several reasons. The modern Jew has almost nothing in common with ancient Judaism racially, culturally or religiously. Even if it were, why support it in particular?

This is the situation under the best of circumstances. They had a temple, a priesthood, genealogical records, they followed the law.

Hebrews 8

13When He said, "(Z)A new covenant," He has made the first obsolete (AA)But whatever is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to disappear.
Hebrews 9

11But when Christ appeared as a (AF)high priest of the (AG)good things [a]to come, He entered through (AH)the greater and more perfect tabernacle, (AI)not made with hands, that is to say, (AJ)not of this creation;
12and not through (AK)the blood of goats and calves, but (AL)through His own blood, He (AM)entered the holy place (AN)once for all, having obtained (AO)eternal redemption.
13For if (AP)the blood of goats and bulls and (AQ)the ashes of a heifer sprinkling those who have been defiled sanctify for the cleansing of the flesh,
14how much more will (AR)the blood of Christ, who through (AS)the eternal Spirit (AT)offered Himself without blemish to God, (AU)cleanse your conscience from (AV)dead works to serve (AW)the living God?
15For this reason (AX)He is the (AY)mediator of a (AZ)new covenant, so that, since a death has taken place for the redemption of the transgressions that were committed under the first covenant, those who have been (BA)called may (BB)receive the promise of (BC)the eternal inheritance.
What mediator do they have even under the old covenant? They offer no sacrifice and worse they have no priests to do it. The entire line was wiped out in 70 AD and they have no record to determine anyone descended from Aaron which is essential to be a priest.

Does a Jew spend 7 days in a tent for the feast of tabernacles? Do they stone adulterers? Do they go to Jerusalem for passover? Are they even real decedents? Did it even matter since Uriah was a Hittite? One must live like a Jew and no one anywhere does that. Even considering race Ethiopian Jews don't look like Ashkenazis do they? Ashkenazis where Huns, Bulgars, Turks, Magyars and assimilated slavs and other central Europeans that converted en mass under the Khazarian empire. This is the bulk of a modern Jews adopting a faith that does not even remotely operate like ancient Judaism.

Down to the last, even the symbol of the six pointed star is the Hindu Shatkona and nowhere in the scriptures.

Only a divine intervention could restore Judaism. If it is restored then Christianity is way off the mark since it was declared obsolete 2000 years ago by our scriptures.

Something for posters on this thread to consider about Israel. True they are in rebellion to God but also in truth, they are only fulfilling the will of God as He laid forth for them. They are our examples of what to do and not to do . That is either to walk by faith trusting that God has purpose in all things He ordained just as the disobedience of Israel is for our learning. Not to their condemnation.
